Ed Snider Youth Hockey and Education

Ed Snider Youth Hockey & Education is a nationally acclaimed nonprofit that uses the sport of hockey to educate and empower under-resourced youth of Philadelphia to prosper in the game of life. Flyers Charities supported the building of a multi-purpose outdoor street hockey rink outside the Joseph Scanlon Recreation Center in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia. The rink was offically opened in May 2023 and the Flyers support of Snider Hockey is continuing on with new projects to be announced.

Abramson Cancer Center at Penn Medicine

Flyers Charities is partnering with the Abramson Cancer Center at Penn Medicine to launch of the Flyers Against Prostate Cancer initiative. Funding from Flyers Charities will support five prostate cancer screening events in the community and the development of a co-branded educational video as part of the initiative. Five walk/drive-through clinics will be set up at local sites in the Philadelphia region, with a focus on reaching communities who have the highest mortality rates from prostate cancer. Eligible participants will undergo a PSA (prostate-specific antigen) blood draw, and a patient navigator will inform participants of the results and provide navigation to further diagnostic testing if needed.

American Cancer Society's HEALED

Flyers Charities joined the HEALED Community Movement to continue their mission of building a sense of community for those affected by cancer with a $75,000 donation over three years. Through community gatherings, HEALED has provided a forum for cancer patients and those who have completed cancer treatment to hear from others going through a similar journey. This allows people to learn more about cancer survivorship and what they can do to help enhance their lives while going through cancer treatment and post treatment. The program allows members to explore topics including grief, exercise after cancer, living with chronic non-curable cancer, and other topics that cancer patients and their caregivers may not have addressed in other places.

Leveling the Playing Field

Leveling the Playing Field is a nonprofit organization that keeps tens of thousands of pounds of sports equipment out of landfills each year and expands access to, and equity within, youth sports and recreation for kids in under-resourced communities through the collection and redistribution of donated sports equipment. Flyers Charities worked with LPF is place 10 donation bins throughout the Philadelphia region to collect gently used sports equipment for redistribution, find your nearest donation bin here.

UNCF

United Negro College Fund envisions a nation where all Americans have equal access to a college education that prepares them for rich intellectual lives, competitive and fulfilling careers, engaged citizenship and service to our nation. Flyers Charities has committed $40,000 to a first-of-its-kind, multi-year agreement with UNCF to award college academic scholarships for local, college-bound high school students who are involved with the sport of hockey.

Ronald McDonald House Charities

Ronald McDonald House Charities® of the Philadelphia Region supports families on their children’s medical journey with a community of comfort and hope. RMHC operates two Ronald McDonald Houses in Philadelphia, three Ronald McDonald Family Rooms at local hospitals, Ronald McDonald Camp, and a Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, operated in partnership with St. Christopher’s Foundation for Children.

Ryan's Case for Smiles

Ryan’s Case for Smiles a volunteer organizations solely dedicated to helping kids feel better to heal better. They work to improve the quality of life of children and their families as they undergo treatment. Flyers Charities teamed up with Ryan’s Case for Smiles to support their overall goals and support their sibling program, JustSibs. JustSibs is designed to help siblings navigate a difficult time with coping means and guidance.

Bringing Hope Home

Bringing Hope Home® is a non-profit organization that provides Unexpected Amazingness® to local Families with cancer through financial and emotional support. Through their Light of Hope Family Program, we offer one-time financial assistance to pay essential household bills for Families with cancer.

Ridley Hockey League

Flyers Charities has partnered with RHL to refresh their ball hockey rink in Delaware County. RHL aims to help the kids learn the game of ball hockey to grow and play competitive ball hockey. Their league is for all skillsets from age 4 and up, and includes adult programming.
