Story of the Day

The Capitals face the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday at Grand Casino Arena for the second and final regular-season meeting between the teams this season. In what was their fifth game of the season, the Capitals defeated the Wild 5-1 on Oct. 17 at Capital One Arena. Dylan Strome recorded four points (2g, 2a) in the win, while Alex Ovechkin (1g-1a–2p), Aliaksei Protas (1g-0a–1p) and Tom Wilson (1g-1a–2p) also scored for Washington. The Capitals outshot Minnesota 45-14 (+31 shot differential), which tied for the third-largest shot differential in a regular-season game in franchise history.

Since Nov. 15, the Capitals (10-2-3, .767 P%) and Wild (12-2-1, .833 P%) have the third- and second-highest point percentages in the NHL, respectively. Washington has scored the most goals in the League over the last 31 days (57), while Minnesota has allowed the third fewest (27).
