Head Athletic Trainer

Matthew Sokolowski enters his 29th year with the Quebec Nordiques/Colorado Avalanche organization. He was promoted to his current position of Head Athletic Trainer in summer 2004.

Sokolowski, 51, joined the organization with the Halifax Citadels, AHL affiliate of the Quebec Nordiques, as head athletic trainer for the 1991-92 season. After serving as head trainer with the Nords' AHL affiliates in Halifax and Cornwall for three years, he made the jump to the NHL level as assistant athletic trainer with the Nordiques in 1994-95 before transferring to Colorado with the club for the 1995-96 season.

A graduate of Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia with a degree in Kinesiology, Sokolowski is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and the Professional Hockey Athletic Trainers Society (PHATS). He is also a nationally registered EMT.

Born in Katowice, Poland, and raised in Chatham, New Brunswick, Matt and his wife, Beth, have three children: daughter Karly (17) and sons Luke (15) and Sam (13).
