Stars (11-7-2, 24 points) vs. Blue Jackets (12-8-0, 24 points)

Rea, Severyn preview Stars-Blue Jackets

DALLAS -- Riding a five-game winning streak, the Stars are expected to dress the same lineup from two nights ago against Carolina. The only change will be in net, with Jake Oettinger getting the start against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The 22-year-old netminder is 4-0 with a league-best 1.26 goals-against average and .959 save percentage, with wins in each of his past three games. Backing up Oettinger will be Braden Holtby, who's won each of his past two starts, including a 39-save effort in Dallas' 4-1 victory over the Hurricanes.
And while the Stars are tied with the Maple Leafs for the longest active winning streak in the NHL, have won seven of their past eight and six in a row at home, the message remains the same.
"You can't take anything for granted," said Stars forward Joe Pavelski. "It can go the other way real quick. It's important we don't take anything for granted because there's a lot of effort and a lot of little things getting done right now. Lots of commitment to the game and details. Those things add up."
Wise words from a 16-year NHL veteran, who comes in with three straight multi-point performances (three goals, four assists). Pavelski's line with Roope Hintz and Jason Robertson has been on an absolute tear during this stretch of wins. Hintz is coming off his first career hat trick on Tuesday and has points in a career-long five straight games (seven goals, two assists) and 14 points in nine of his past 10 games (10 goals, four assists). Robertson is riding a four-game point streak (two goals, four assists) and has 13 points (four goals, nine assists) over his past 10 games.

John Klingberg didn't practice on Monday because he was feeling under the weather, according to head coach Rick Bowness. In his place was Joel Hanley.
The Blue Jackets, meanwhile, recalled goaltender Daniil Tarasov from Cleveland of the American Hockey League earlier in the day on an emergency basis and is expected to play against Dallas, per the club. Both Elvis Merzlikins and Jonas Korpisalo are battling non-COVID-related illnesses. What that means is an emergency backup could be suiting up for the Jackets.
