20210106 Girgensons Mediawall BCBS

Sabres forward Zemgus Girgensons underwent successful surgery today to repair a hamstring injury sustained during the team's Blue & Gold Scrimmage on Monday.
The expected recovery time for this injury is approximately six months.

Girgensons signed a new three-year contract with the club this offseason. Last season, the 27-year-old Latvian native was one of only four players to skate in all 69 of Buffalo's games. He recorded 19 points (12+7) and led Sabres forwards in both total shorthanded ice time (147:17) and shorthanded ice time per game (2:08).
Girgensons was drafted 14th overall by the Sabres in the 2012 NHL Draft and has dressed in 489 career games, which ranks 32nd in franchise history.
