J-J Peterka scored a hat trick as part of a five-point outing in Germany's 5-4 victory over Switzerland on Wednesday, clinching a spot in the quarterfinal round.
The preliminary round ends Thursday with both Canada (Dylan Cozens and Jack Quinn) and the United States (Ryan Johnson) in action.

Switzerland 4 - Germany 5
The Germans played with four forward lines and three defense pairs for the first time all tournament after a COVID-19 outbreak forced them to play the first three contests shorthanded. After losing the first two, their two straight wins have them in the quarterfinals for the first time ever.
Peterka (second round, 2020) factored into all five German goals, tying him with linemate Tim Stutzle and USA's Trevor Zegras atop the tournament leaderboard with 10 points (4+6).
Peterka potted a wrap-around goal to open the scoring. Later, he fought his way through two defenders to score an empty-net goal that proved crucial in preventing a Switzerland comeback.

Germany, as the third seed in Group A, will face the second-seeded team from Group B in the quarterfinal round on Saturday.

Canada vs. Finland - 6 p.m.
The two undefeated teams will battle for the top seed in Group A. Cozens (first round, 2019) and Quinn (first round, 2020) are both coming off multi-point performances on Tuesday.
Sweden vs. United States - 9:30 p.m.
Team USA can finish as high as first in Group B or as low as third. Sweden is coming off an overtime loss to Russia on Wednesday that snapped a 54-game winning streak in the preliminary round.
