Tage Thompson returned from an upper-body injury and scored the winning goal in the United States' 2-1 victory over Norway at the IIHF World Championship on Saturday.
Arttu Ruotsalainen also scored for the second straight game in Finland's 2-1 win over Germany.

Saturday's results

United States 2 - Norway 1
Thompson won a battle in the corner and cut to the net to bury a loose puck, putting Team USA ahead 2-0 during the second period.

The goal was the first of the tournament for Thompson, who had missed two games due to an injury. The United States has won four straight contests.
"Our expectation is gold, you don't expect anything less," Thompson told iihf.com afterward. "That's what we came here for."
Finland 2 - Germany 1
Ruotsalainen finished a 2-on-1 rush to put Finland ahead with 8:34 remaining. The goal was his second of the tournament.

Tobias Rieder skated 14:52 for Germany. Sabres prospect J-J Peterka made his tournament debut and skated 13:33.
