Sabres hire Smith as video coordinator

Joins coaching staff following championship season in Chicago Catholic Hockey League

The Buffalo Sabres have hired Matt Smith as video coordinator, the team announced Monday.

Smith previously worked as head coach at Saint Ignatius College Prep in Chicago. He led St. Ignatius to the school's first-ever Kennedy Cup as champion of the Chicago Catholic Hockey League in 2022.
Smith received the Bill Peluse Award as CCHL Coach of the Year after leading St. Ignatius to a CCHL President's Cup after skating to an 18-2 record in 2021-22.
Smith joins fellow video coordinator Justin White; assistant coaches Mike Bales, Jason Christie, Matt Ellis, and Marty Wilford; and development coach Dan Girardi on head coach Don Granato's staff.
