The Buffalo Sabres have signed defenseman Brandon Davidson to a one-year contract worth $700,000, the team announced Friday.
Davidson, 29, tallied 20 points (3+17) in 34 games last season as an alternate captain with the Stockton Heat, the AHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames. He led Stockton defensemen with .59 points per game (minimum five games played).

The 6-foot-2, left-shot defenseman has appeared in 174 NHL games spanning six seasons, including 12 last season for Calgary and the San Jose sharks. He totaled career highs in both games played (51) and goals (4) in 2017-18, when he played for Montreal, Edmonton, and the New York Islanders.
Davidson is the third player to join the Sabres on a one-year deal Friday, joining forward Tobias Rieder and defenseman Matt Irwin.
