At The Final Horn | Mittelstadt scores OT winner for RJ's last call

Rick Jeanneret still had one last goal to call, even after three periods had come and gone inside KeyBank Center.
Casey Mittelstadt buried a rebound at 2:07 of - well, oooovertime - to seal a come-from-behind, 3-2 victory for the Sabres over the Chicago Blackhawks in their season finale on Friday.
Tage Thompson and Owen Power also scored goals for the Sabres, who erased a pair of one-goal deficits during the third period. Dustin Tokarski made 19 saves.
Dominik Kubalik and Taylor Raddysh scored goals for the Blackhawks. Collin Delia made 33 saves.

How it happened

Mittelstadt buried the rebound of a Dylan Cozens shot to seal the victory in what was the final game of Jeanneret's storied 51-year career as the Sabres' play-by-play voice.
"Me and Cozey were talking, Mittelstadt said. "We're pretty proud to be his last call."
It took a comeback effort to make the moment possible.
The Sabres entered the third period trailing 1-0 on Kubalik's goal. Thompson buried a crossing feed from Jeff Skinner at 4:16 of the frame to tie the score, his team-best 38th goal of the season.
The Blackhawks responded with a goal from Raddysh, but Power buried the game-tying goal - his first in Buffalo - from the high slot with 5:38 left to play in regulation.

• Kyle Okposo became the second recipient of the Rick Martin Memorial Award, given to the player voted by fans to have best demonstrated on-ice excellence, resiliency, and dedication to the community.

• The Sabres held their annual Fan Appreciation Night inside KeyBank Center. Michael Leonard, a 25-year season ticket member and a member of the Buffalo Sabres Sled Hockey Organization, was named Fan of the Year for the 2021-22 season.
• Sabres goaltender Malcolm Subban surprised fans by performing the U.S. National Anthem before the game. Watch his performance in the video below.

• Several Buffalo Bills players attended the game in a suite, including newly drafted cornerback Kaiir Elam. The group was welcomed on the video board during the first period.

• Skinner earned his 63rd point of the season with his assist on Thompson's goal, matching his career high. He previously reached the total during his rookie campaign in 2010-11 and again during his first season with the Sabres in 2018-19.
