The Buffalo Sabres have loaned forward Brandon Biro and defenseman Casey Fitzgerald to the Rochester Americans, the team announced Sunday.

Fitzgerald logged one assist and a plus-1 rating in two preseason games with the Sabres. He re-signed with Buffalo on a two-year contract in August.
Fitzgerald, 24, was selected by the Sabres in the third round (86th overall) of the 2016 NHL Draft. He tallied a career-high 11 points (2+9) in 22 games with Rochester in 2020-21, his second pro season.
Biro has not practiced in training camp due to injury. He's on the final year of an entry-level contract that he signed in March 2020. The 23-year-old forward recorded five points in 15 AHL games last season following a four-year stint at Penn State.
The Amerks will play their second preseason game at 3 p.m. today against the Syracuse Crunch at Blue Cross Arena.
NHL opening day playing rosters will be set at 5 p.m. on Monday. The NHL season begins Tuesday. Buffalo's first game will be at home against the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday. Tickets are on sale now.
