The Buffalo Sabres fell to the New Jersey Devils 3-2 Tuesday night at Prudential Center, brining the Sabres' winless streak to 12 games.
Tobias Rieder and Jeff Skinner scored for the Sabres while Jonas Johansson made 25 saves.
The Sabres led 2-1 in the second period. Miles Wood broke a tie early in the third period to give the Devils a lead they would not relinquish.
Mackenzie Blackwood stopped 33 shots, including a few huge stops in the final minute of regulation. Yegor Sharangovich and Sami Vatanen also scored for the Devils.
The Sabres entered the game having been shut out in each of their last two games. That streak ended at 177:27 when Rieder scored to tie the game in the second period.
Buffalo went 0-for-2 on the power play with no shots and 2-for-3 on the penalty kill.
The Sabres are 0-10-2 over the last 12 games. Their last win came on February 23.

What happened

Sharangovich's quick shot from the slot beat Johansson five hole with 2:20 left in first period to open the scoring.
Buffalo scored a pair of goals 57 seconds apart at the start of the second period. First Rieder picked up a loose puck at the top of the faceoff circle at the 6:13 mark of the period and ripped a hard wrist shot over Blackwood's glove.
Then at 7:10, Skinner found himself on a 2-on-1 with Casey Mittelstadt after a long backhand stretch pass from the Sabres end by Brandon Montour. Skinner then accepted a pass from Mittelstadt in the middle of the ice and deked out Blackwood to score his second goal of the year.
However, the Devils tied things up soon after. With 9:21 left in the second period, Sami Vatanen's shot from the point made its way through traffic and in past Johansson. tie game point shot through traffic
New Jersey went on the power play early in the third period and Wood deflected in a shot from Jesper Bratt to put the Devils ahead 3-1 at the 4:52 mark.

Just 2:53 into the game, the Sabres found themselves without Taylor Hall. As a Colin Miller slap shot from the point headed towards the net, Hall was knocked to the ice by P.K. Subban. Hall fell and the puck hit him square in the mouth. Play was stopped and Hall headed to the dressing room, covering the lower half of his face.
He returned for the second period and finished the game with one shot in 12:07 of ice time.
The Sabres injury list has a lot of names on it. Jack Eichel, Dylan Cozens, Linus Ullmark, Jake McCabe, Will Borgen and Zemgus Girgensons are currently all unavailable due to various injuries.
