ST. LOUIS REACHES 1,000 CAREER POINTS . . .

Martin St. Louis of the New York Rangers recorded a goal and an assist to reach 1,000 career NHL points (379-621—1,000). St. Louis is the 81st player overall and the fifth active skater to reach the milestone, following Jaromir Jagr (709-1,061—1,770), Joe Thornton (349-865—1,214), Jarome Iginla (563-618—1,181) and Marian Hossa (467-544—1,011).

* According to the Elias Sports Bureau, St. Louis is the sixth undrafted player to make his NHL debut in the 1969-70 season or later (when the amateur draft expanded to cover any amateur player of qualifying age throughout the world) and reach 1,000 NHL points, joining Wayne Gretzky (894-1,963—2,857), Adam Oates (341-1,079—1,420), Peter Stastny (450-789—1,239), Dino Ciccarelli (608-592—1,200) and Joe Mullen (502-561—1,063) – all of whom have been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

“It’s always great when you achieve something, but I don’t think it crosses your mind when you try and play in this league. I think there are goals that become achievable as you go through. I got a chance to play a thousand games and that’s pretty special to me. To get a thousand, it’s a great accomplishment. I’m not going to hide my feelings, I’m proud of that. To do it on a win, do it on a goal, I think it makes it special and the boys really played well today.”

. . . RANGERS WIN THANKSGIVING SHOWDOWN VS. FLYERS

Cam Talbot made 26 saves for his second shutout of the season (fifth career) to lead the Rangers to a 3-0 win in the opener of a home-and-home series with the Philadelphia Flyers. New York improved to 15-4-0 in its past 19 regular-season games against Philadelphia dating to March 6, 2011.

* Talbot has shutouts in back-to-back starts – both against the Flyers – for the second time in his career (also Nov. 16 and 23, 2013 vs. the Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators). Via Elias, he is the first Rangers goalie to post consecutive shutouts against the Flyers since Steve Valiquette did so on Jan. 31 and Feb. 9, 2008.

* The Rangers have shut out their opponents in three of their last four games, dating to a 2-0 win against the Flyers on Nov. 19. It marks the first time the Rangers have posted three shutouts in a four-game stretch since they recorded three straight from Feb. 4-10, 1973.

* Overall the Rangers lead the NHL with six shutouts in 22 games this season. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, it marks the first time since 1937-38 that the Rangers have opened a season with six or more shutouts in 22 games.

* Martin St. Louis has registered a point in nine of his last 12 games (8-5—13), including 4-3—7 in his past six. He has 61 points (16-45—61) in 48 career games against the Flyers.

*Derek Stepan matched a career-high with three assists to push his point streak to five games (1-6—7). He has 2-9—11 in 10 games this season and 6-17—23 in his career against the Flyers (23 GP).

*Rick Nash scored his second shorthanded goal of the season and remained two behind Tyler Seguin of the Dallas Stars for the lead in goals. Nash pushed his goal/point streak to four games (4-1—5) and has scored at least one goal in 14 of 22 games this season.

MILLER LIFTS CANUCKS INTO TOP SPOT IN NHL

Ryan Miller stopped all 31 shots he faced – including 12 in the final period – to record his third shutout of the season in the Vancouver Canucks' 5-0 road win against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Canucks improved to 16-6-1 (33 points) and moved into sole possession of first place in the NHL standings. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Canucks have set franchise records for wins and points through 23 games.

* Via Elias, Miller has back-to-back shutouts for the first time since Feb. 29-March 1, 2012 while with the Buffalo Sabres. It also marked the first time the Canucks have posted shutouts in consecutive games since Dec. 9-13, 2013 when Eddie Lack and Roberto Luongo shut out the Carolina Hurricanes and Edmonton Oilers, respectively.

* Miller improved to 15-3-0 with a 2.32 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage in 18 games with the Canucks; he is one shutout behind Marc-Andre Fleury and Henrik Lundqvist for the League lead in that category.

* Brad Richardson and Chris Higgins each had a goal and an assist, and Nick Bonino matched a career-high with three assists.

* Vancouver improved to 14-1-2 in their past 17 games against Columbus, including a 7-1-2 mark in their past 10 visits to Nationwide Arena.

WILD SURRENDER LEAD, RALLY FOR OT WIN

Zach Parise (0-3—3) and Thomas Vanek (1-2—3) each had three points – including assists on Marco Scandella’s second career overtime goal (also Nov. 16 vs. the Winnipeg Jets) to lift the Minnesota Wild to a 5-4 road win against the Dallas Stars. The Stars erased a 3-0 deficit with four straight goals – including three in the final 3:42 of the second period – before Vanek tied the game with 1:58 left in regulation.

* According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Scandella is the second defenseman in Wild history to score multiple overtime goals in one season; Brent Burns had two in 2006-07.

* Parise had his second three-point game of the season (also Oct. 9 vs. the Colorado Avalanche) and has 9-13—22 in 16 career games against the Stars.

* Vanek had three points in a game for the first time since April 4 at the Ottawa Senators while with the Montreal Canadiens. He has 5-8—13 in 11 career games vs. Dallas.

* Darcy Kuemper set career highs in shots faced (45) and saves (41). He improved to 10-7-0 with a 2.37 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage this season.

* Minnesota also won in its previous visit to Dallas on Nov. 15, marking the first time in franchise history that the Wild have won back-to-back games in Dallas; they are 6-16-6 all-time in road games against the Stars.

RED WINGS, BRUINS, BLUES AND PANTHERS ALSO RALLY FOR WINS

The Detroit Red Wings, St. Louis Blues, Boston Bruins and Florida Panthers all faced a one-goal deficit after 40 minutes before rallying for victories:

* Drew Miller tied the game at 4-4 midway through the third period and Gustav Nyquist netted the lone shootout goal as visiting Detroit rallied from a 4-1 second-period deficit to defeat the New Jersey Devils 5-4. Niklas Kronwall had two assists, including one on the game-tying goal by Drew Miller. Henrik Zetterberg also contributed two assists to push his point streak to three games (1-3—4). The Red Wings improved to 10-2-1 in their past 13 meetings against the Devils dating to Jan. 29, 2004. Overall Detroit is 5-1-0 in its past six games, including two victories in which they overcame a deficit of two or more goals (they rallied from a 2-0 deficit for a 4-3 road win against the Winnipeg Jets on Nov. 20).

* A pair of Blues defensemen – Kevin Shattenkirk and Alex Pietrangelo – erased one-goal deficits in the third period before Vladimir Tarasenko scored his second career overtime goal (also: Oct. 28 at Dallas) to lift the Blues to a 4-3 win against the Edmonton Oilers. T.J. Oshie (1-2—3) factored on all three goals in regulation; it marked his first multiple-point game since last season, when he had consecutive three-point outings (1-2—3 and 3-0—3 on March 25 and 27, respectively). The victory marked the first time this season that the Blues have won a game in which they trailed after two periods (1-4-0).

* St. Louis (15-6-2, 32 points) has won 13 of its past 17 games to move into a points tie with Nashville (15-5-2, 32 points) atop the Central Division. However, the Predators have a game in hand.

* Milan Lucic tied the game at 3:05 of the third period and Dougie Hamilton (1-1—2) scored his first career overtime goal to lift the Bruins to a 2-1 win against the Jets. The victory boosted Boston’s record to 7-1-1 in its past nine games at TD Garden and marked their 13 consecutive home-ice win against the Jets/Atlanta Thrashers franchise (dating to Dec. 31, 2007). Tuukka Rask stopped 35 shots – including 16 in the third period and overtime – to improve to 11-6-1 with a 2.31 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage this season.

* Sean Bergenheim tied the score 34 seconds into the third period and Jimmy Hayes had his first career game-winner to rally the Panthers to a 3-2 win against Senators. Vincent Trocheck (0-2—2) posted his second career multiple-point game, including a helper on Dylan Olsen’s first goal since Dec. 13, 2013. The Panthers also won for the first time this season when trailing after 40 minutes (1-5-3).

BLACKHAWKS CONTINUE “CIRCUS TRIP” SUCCESS

Patrick Kane scored twice and Corey Crawford (23 saves) picked up his 11th win of the season to lead the Chicago Blackhawks to a 4-1 victory against the Anaheim Ducks. The Blackhawks have won seven of their past nine games and improved to 4-1-0 on their annual “Circus Trip,” which wraps up Saturday against the Los Angeles Kings.

* Kane had his fifth multi-point game in his past seven (6-7—13 in that span). He shares the club lead in goals (10, tied with Jonathan Toews) and paces all Blackhawks with 23 points.

* Crawford (11-5-1) has won seven of his past nine starts and ranks fourth among all goaltenders with a 1.92 goals-against average and sixth in save percentage (.928).

* Brent Seabrook stretched his point streak to a career-long seven games (2-5—7), marking the longest stretch by a Blackhawks defenseman since Duncan Keith recorded a point in eight straight games from Nov. 19 to Dec. 3, 2013.

* Seabrook has recorded exactly one point in each game of his streak. Elias says the last Blackhawks player to do that was Cam Barker in eight straight games from Mar. 7-20, 2009, as part of an nine-game point streak overall.

* Andrew Shaw (1-1—2) registered his second multiple-point game of the season (also 1-1—2 vs. the Buffalo Sabres on Oct. 11) and his first game-winning goal since March 6 against Columbus.

* Brad Richards (1-1—2) and Kris Versteeg (0-2—2) also posted multiple-point performances. Keith stretched his point streak to four games (1-3—4).

OVECHKIN LIFTS CAPITALS TO HOME-AND-HOME SPLIT

After the Washington Capitals saw their two-goal lead erased in a 35-second span late in the first period, Alex Ovechkin scored the eventual game-winner in the middle period to help the Capitals earn a split in a home-and-home set against the New York Islanders.

* Ovechkin scored his 73rd career game-winning goal to tie Peter Bondra for first on the all-time franchise list. After pacing all players with 10 GWGs in 2013-14, Ovechkin shares the League lead with four game-winners this season (tied with Montreal's Lars Eller).Ovechkin has 25-14—39 in 35 career games vs. the Islanders.

* Matt Niskanen (0-3—3) matched a career-high for assists/points (also Feb. 6, 2009, vs. the Rangers while with Dallas) to push his point streak to three games (2-3—5).

* Braden Holtby stopped 26 shots to improve to 6-1-1 in his career against the Islanders. With the win, Holtby (68 wins) surpassed Pat Riggin and moved into sole possession of sixth on the franchise’s all-time wins list.

* Marcus Johansson (1-1—2) scored his ninth goal of the season to surpass his 80-game total from 2013-14 and move within five of his single-season high (14 in 2011-12, 80 GP).

* Nicklas Backstrom pushed his point streak to four games (1-5—6). He has assisted on 11 of Ovechkin’s 12 goals this season.

FRIDAY NIGHT NOTABLES

* Jiri Tlusty (2-1—3) had three points and Nathan Gerbe scored his eighth career game-winning goal (last: Oct. 10, 2013 at Washington) to help the Carolina Hurricanes snap a three-game skid with a 4-2 road win against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Tlusty had his first multiple-point game since Oct. 11 when he had his second career hat trick. Eric Staal added an assist and has 16-23—39 in 39 career games against Pittsburgh.

* The Sabres surrendered the tying goal early in the third period, but Matt Moulson (1-1—2) capitalized on a lucky bounce with 1:18 left in regulation to lift Buffalo to a 2-1 win against the visiting Canadiens. Jhonas Enroth stopped 30 shots to improve to 3-1-0 with a 1.25 goals-against average and a .959 save percentage in his past four starts. Enroth has not allowed an even-strength goal since 17:32 of the third period on Nov. 13 at Minnesota, a span of 268:35.

* ICYMI: Sabres forward Tyler Ennis opened the scoring with a highlight-reel goal in the first period.

* Jaromir Jagr (1-1—2) of the Devils scored his 709th career goal to surpass Mike Gartner for sole possession of sixth on the all-time NHL goals list. Jagr (709-1,061—1,770) also moved within one point of tying Marcel Dionne (731-1,040—1,771) for fifth on the all-time points list. Jagr is two assists behind Steve Yzerman (1,063) for seventh all-time.

* Sidney Crosby had two assists in Pittsburgh's loss to Carolina to extend his League scoring lead to 33 points (9-24—33). Tyler Seguin of the Stars (18-12—30) scored his League-leading 18th goal of the season and had his third straight multiple-point game to move into a share of second in NHL scoring with Philadelphia's Jakub Voracek (8-22—30), three points behind Crosby.

* The Blues fired 41 shots at the Oilers net, including a career-high 10 shots by Alex Pietrangelo. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the last Blues player with at least 10 shots in a regular-season game was defenseman Al MacInnis on Jan. 16, 2003 (11 shots).

* Blues coach Ken Hitchcock picked up his 672nd NHL win to tie Mike Keenan for sixth on the all-time list. Earlier this season, Hitchcock became the first coach in NHL history to earn at least 125 regular-season wins with four different franchises.

Jets netminder Michael Hutchinson stopped 36 shots in a losing cause. He has allowed 10 goals in eight games this season and leads the League with a 1.56 goals-against average and a .947 save percentage. . . . Capitals forward Evgeny Kuznetsov (1-1—2) registered his first multiple-point performance since March 14 when he recorded his first three NHL points vs. Vancouver. . . . Red Wings coach Mike Babcock picked up his 497th NHL win to tie Glen Sather for 20th all-time among coaches. . . . Islanders coach Jack Capuano was behind the bench for his 300th NHL game. . . . Devils forward Mike Cammalleri scored twice and has 11-16—27 in 25 career games against the Red Wings. . . . The Panthers fired a season-high 46 shots against Ottawa goaltender Craig Andersen. . . . Dallas captain Jamie Benn had two assists to push his point streak to five games (3-6—9); he ranks second on the Stars with 8-14—22. . . . Stars defenseman Jyrki Jokipakka (0-2—2) tallied his first two NHL points in a 92-second span. . . . Devils defenseman Andy Greene (500), Canadiens forward Dale Weise (200) and Blue Jackets forward Corey Tropp (100) played in milestone games. . . .
