• Serving as the captain of Ottawa for the 2012-13 season, Monahan led the 67’s in scoring with 31 goals, 47 assists and 15 power-play goals.
• Despite Ottawa winning just 16 games, Monahan was voted among the top-three players in four separate categories – Smartest Player, Best Playmaker, Best Stickhandler and Best on Face-Offs – in the OHL Eastern Conference Coaches Poll.
• He was the youngest member of Team Canada at the 2012 Canada-Russia Challenge, during which he recorded two goals and two assists in four games. He won gold for Canada at the 2011 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament and scored the gold medal-winning goal for Team Ontario at the 2011 World Under-17 Challenge.
• A former captain of the Mississauga Rebels AAA minor midget team, Monahan helped them win the 2010 OHL Cup and was selected as tournament MVP.
• His grandfather, Rick Hay, competed in the OHL for the now-defunct Marlies and in the AHL for Pittsburgh and Charlotte. His two uncles, Rick Hay and Craig Teeple, played hockey at a high level in Europe.
