  • Was selected second overall in the 2005 WHL Bantam Draft behind defenseman Colten Teubert (ranked 18th overall).
  • Started skating at the age of three and his first hockey program was called the Pond Puppies in Squamish, B.C. Played his minor hockey with Squamish, Coquitlam and Abbotsford, B.C.
  • Credits his father for having had the most influence on his career – “he coached me from Tyke through to Bantam and has taught me everything” and the best advice he has ever received was from his parents “play every shift like it’s your last.
  • Working on his sticks for a couple hours prior to the game and not letting the taped blade touch the ground are part of his pre-game superstitions – “I want to keep all the magic in there."
  • His most memorable hockey moment was playing for Under-18 Team Canada – “it was a dream come true to be honored with the chance to wear the maple leaf”.
  •  If he could be in any one movie he would choose Mighty Ducks or Gladiator and if he wasn’t playing hockey he would be playing lacrosse.
