• Mueller made his Western Hockey League debut for the Silvertips in 2012-13, finishing second among rookie defensemen in scoring with 31 points (6-25--31). Paired with Columbus Blue Jackets’ prospect Ryan Murray (selected second overall in 2012) to start the season, Mueller was named the Silvertips Rookie of the Year.
• He competed for Switzerland at the 2013 Under-18 World Championship where he registered three points (1-2--3) in five games and was named one of the top three players on his team. He also participated in the 2013 World Junior Championship, collecting two assists in six games.
• Mueller appeared in the Swiss Elite League as a 16-year-old in 2011-12, skating in seven games with the Kloten Flyers.
• Mueller, fluent in German, French and English, lasted longer than any other prospect on the VO2 Max test at the 2013 NHL Combine (14:30).

You forget how good [Nieuwendyk] was. You hear the points and stuff and you almost forget until they kind of walk you through his career, and that was really cool for me.
