Report: Hiller returns to Ducks' goal vs. Jackets

Anaheim Ducks goalie Jonas Hiller will return from injury to start Monday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets, according to reports.

Hiller left after the first period of a Feb. 8 game against the Dallas Stars with a lower-body injury. He's 3-2-1 in six starts this season with a 3.69 goals-against average and .872 save percentage.

"He's ready to play, when we decide to play him," Anaheim coach Bruce Boudreau said.

In his absence, first-year NHLer Viktor Fasth has won four consecutive starts and was named the League's Second Star of the past week. Fasth is 8-0-0 overall to start his career and tied for the League lead in victories.

Taylor to get first NHL start for Flames

The Calgary Flames will give Daniel Taylor his first NHL start in goal Monday night when they face the Phoenix Coyotes at Jobing.com Arena.

The 26-year-old Taylor's only prior NHL experience came during the 2007-08 season with the Los Angeles Kings. He relieved Erik Ersberg for the third period in a 7-2 loss to Dallas on March 29, 2008 and allowed two goals on 10 shots.

The Flames are dealing with an injury to starting goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff and have been using rookie Leland Irving and veteran Joey MacDonald in his absence.

Rangers place Powe on IR, recall Mashinter

The New York Rangers placed forward Darroll Powe on injured reserve Monday, less than 24 hours after a scary fall to the ice in a game against the Washington Capitals.

Early in the second period of Sunday's 2-1 win, Powe had an accidental collision with Capitals forward Matt Hendricks in the neutral zone. Hendricks and Powe did not see each other until the last second, resulting in Powe flipping over Hendricks and hitting his head on the ice.

Powe stayed down for several minutes and was eventually helped off the ice by teammates. He did not return to the game.

To take Powe's roster spot, the Rangers recalled Brandon Mashinter from the Connecticut Whale of the AHL.

Rookie forward Chris Kreider, out of the lineup the past two games as a healthy scratch, could return to the lineup in Powe's absence.

MacLeod, who was hit into the glass by Adirondack’s Brandon Manning just before the seizure, was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

MacLeod sent the following message from his Twitter account late in the evening: "Feeling very blessed with all the love and support I've received. I am feeling a lot better. Thank you everyone!"

Rangers recall Kreider after short demotion

Chris Kreider's demotion to the American Hockey League lasted one game.

Kreider, sent down Friday to Connecticut, was recalled by the New York Rangers a day later. He played for the Whale on Friday night but did not score in a 4-1 victory.

A sudden sensation when Kreider made his NHL debut during the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs, he has struggled in his first full season as a professional. Kreider has a goal and an assist in seven games for the Rangers this season, and he was a healthy scratch just before the demotion.
