McGinn added to Flyers' top line

With Danny Briere out indefinitely with a concussion, the Philadelphia Flyers have juggled their lines again heading into their game Tuesday against the New York Rangers (7:30 p.m. ET, NBCSN, TSN) in hope of finding a spark to ignite their fading Stanley Cup Playoff hopes.

At the team's morning skate Tuesday, rookie Tye McGinn -- called up to replace Briere -- skated on the team's top line, along with Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek.

Besides Briere, defenseman Nicklas Grossmann was not on the ice Tuesday. He is listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury sustained in practice last week, but is unlikely to play Tuesday. He also sat out the Flyers' game Sunday at the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Report: Morrow waives NTC to join Penguins

TSN and ESPN are reporting that Dallas Stars captain Brenden Morrow has opted to waive the no-trade clause in his contract and accept a deal to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun is reporting the Stars will send Brenden Morrow and a third-round pick in the 2013 NHL Draft to the Penguins in return for Penguins defense prospect Joseph Morrow (no relation) and a 2013 fifth-round pick.

Brenden Morrow has just six goals and 11 points in 29 games this season, and for a short time was playing on the Stars' fourth line. However, he could be rejuvenated by potentially playing right wing on a line with two-time Art Ross Trophy winner Evgeni Malkin (when healthy) and 40-goal scorer James Neal with the Penguins.

Reports: Calgary's Iginla on trade market

According to multiple reports, Calgary Flames forward Jarome Iginla is available on the trade market.

"What we believe is going on is that the process had begun to trade him, and the list of teams is very small and it’s Stanley Cup contenders," said the CBC's Elliotte Friedman on the Hot Stove segment of Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday.

Meanwhile, both TSN's Darren Dreger, who is a hockey insider on the NHL Network as well, and Renaud Lavoie of RDS are reporting that four Stanley Cup contenders are on a list of teams Iginla has told the Flames he would waive the no-movement clause in his contract to join. According to both reporters, the Boston Bruins, the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Chicago Blackhawks and the Los Angeles Kings, the defending Stanley Cup champion, comprise the list.

The Islanders lost the first three games, to the Ottawa Senators, Montreal Canadiens and Pittsburgh Penguins, by a combined score of 14-7.

Chiarelli trying to find right balance in deadline approach

Boston Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli is walking a very fine line approaching the April 3 NHL trade deadline.

While he has a few spots in mind he'd like to improve his team, he has no interest in altering the core of a group that won the Stanley Cup in 2011.

"You always want to try and improve," Chiarelli told CSNNE.com. "I want to try and keep the roster as intact as possible. I'll never say 'never,' but that's been my objective. I think I've shown over the years I'm trying to keep the core together and I'm going to continue and try to do that."

The injury to Chris Kelly has Chiarelli most focused ont rying to add something to a third line that has struggled to perform consistently.

"We've been trying to fill that hole on the third line and we haven't been able to," Chiarelli said. "That's an area we'd like to improve."

CSNNE.com lists potential targets as the Dallas Stars' Jaromir Jagr and Brenden Morrow and Ryane Clowe of the San Jose Sharks. The Calgary Flames' Jarome Iginla and Jay Bouwmeester also are possibilities, but the cost could be too high.
