Girls Learn to Play

The Even Strength Girls Learn to Play program is designed to ensure a positive experience for girls new to hockey. It provides girls a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment to learn the basics of hockey.

Led by certified coaches, this program is designed for beginner hockey players and focuses on developing essential skills. Participants will learn and practice key techniques such as skating, stickhandling, shooting, positioning, and more.

The Edmonton Oilers offers one yearly Girls Learn to Play session at the Downtown Community Arena. This program is open to all girls ages 12 - 17 who are new to hockey. The registration fee is $150 which includes:

  • Six one-hour on-ice sessions;
  • Head-to-toe Bauer equipment;
  • Welcome Event with equipment fitting demonstration and fit session;
  • Even Strength water bottle;
  • Even Strength jersey;
  • Even Strength sweatshirt; and
  • Wrap up social event

The Edmonton Oilers invite individuals who are non-binary, transgender, gender fluid, or cisgender women to join this program and other events within Even Strength.
