In their second encounter on December 29, the Knights fell again 5-2 at home. Late goals from Brayden McNabb in the second period and Mark Stone in the third fell short of victory. To wrap up the season series, the Knights were defeated 4-2 on March 6 despite late efforts from Mitch Marner.

OPPOSITION UPDATE
The Minnesota Wild currently hold a 3-1-1 record and sit second place in the Central Division through their first four games of the 2026-27 season. The Wild played their first game away in Nashville and earned a 3-1 win against the Predators. Their two defeats were handed by the Buffalo Sabers and Tampa Bay Lighting, both 3-2 scorelines. The Wild’s most recent match was a 4-1 win in Florida against the Panthers on Saturday night.

In the offseason, the Wild created major roster changes, trades and contract extensions following a second round playoff elimination last season. Blake Coleman and Olli Määttä were acquired from the Calgary Flames in exchange for future draft picks in 2027, 2028 and 2029. Key departures from the Wild include Mats Zuccarello, Marcus Johansson and Jake Middleton.

KEYS TO THE GAME
Execute Power Plays: After Saturday’s win, Mitch Marner and Head Coach Ryan Craig emphasized the need to capitalize on powerplay opportunities, as staying consistent with scoring on those chances will be key to collecting points early in the season. Through this next slate of four games in one week, building on confidence and trust in their young players will be the key to more wins.

Balanced Effort: As the Golden Knights prepare for back-to-back games on the road, maintaining balance throughout the lineup will be key to navigating the demands of a quick turnaround from Monday to Tuesday. With the strains of consecutive road games testing the team’s depth and endurance, contributions across all four lines, three defence pairings and likely both goalies will be essential to finding success away from home.
