Girls Development Program

The St. Louis Blues have partnered with First Community Credit Union, Bauer, and the National Hockey League to create the Girls Development Program, a low-cost Learn to Play program to allow kids to experience hockey for the first time. The Girls Development Program cost is $250 per child.

This six-week introduction into hockey is for girls who have not participated in organized youth hockey before. Girls who have registered with a local Missouri Hockey Association are not eligible to participate in this program.

Once registered, participants will attend a Pure Hockey equipment fitting three weeks before the first ice session. Properly fitted equipment is necessary for comfort, performance, and safety!

Program Includes

Six-weeks of on-ice practices (once a week)
Youth hockey graduation
Full set of equipment:
Girls Development Program jersey
Skates
Shoulder pads
Gloves
Elbow pads
Helmet
Shin guards
Hockey pants
Hockey socks
Equipment bag
Hockey stick (no curve)

Program Eligibility

Children must be between the ages of 4-17.
This program is offered to new, first-time participants only.
Children who are not registered with a local Missouri Hockey Association.
Children who have previously participated in the Girls Development Program are NOT eligible to participate again.
We strongly encouraged that participants complete a Learn to Skate before enrolling in Girls Development Program.

All Girls Development Program sessions are held at Centene Community Ice Center, the official practice facility of the St. Louis Blues.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Does my child need to know how to skate before signing up?

We highly recommend taking skating lessons before joining the Girls Development Program. It will make learning hockey-focused skills such as shooting and stickhandling much easier if they know how to skate already.

I was added to a waiting list during registration, what does this mean?

If you were added to our waiting list, this means our session is currently filled. Should a spot open, you will be notified. If no spots open, you will be added to the communication list for the next available session.
