DALLAS (AP) - The Los Angeles Kings figured out how to keep the Dallas Stars from making a big comeback, just keep scoring.

Craig Conroy had a goal and two assists - giving him seven points in two games - and the Kings defeated the Stars 7-2 Thursday night.

On opening night, Los Angeles built a 4-0 advantage over the Stars after one period before Dallas mounted a furious rally to pull out a 5-4 victory.

The Kings took a 3-1 lead after one period on Thursday night, then added four more goals in the second period to put the game out of reach.

``That will stick with us for most of the year,'' Kings coach Andy Murray said of his team's opening-night meltdown. ``You don't like to have those. You should feel confident with a 7-2 lead, but in this new age of hockey you never know.''

Conroy scored the winning goal and added three assists Wednesday in a 5-4 victory at Colorado. Conroy was without a goal and had one assist in the first six games before breaking out during this two-game stretch.

``Early in the season we had a lot of great chances and would get nothing,'' Conroy said. ``We started getting some breaks and I hope it continues for us and for me.''

Jason LaBarbera, who's won all four starts this season, made 28 saves for the Kings (6-2). Lubomir Visnovsky had a goal and two assists, and George Parros notched his first NHL goal for Los Angeles.

Pavol Demitra, Alexander Frolov, Dustin Brown and Luc Robitaille added goals for the Kings.

Dallas allowed its most goals since an 8-0 loss to the Kings in Los Angeles on Jan. 30, 2001.

``That game is a real concern because that's a big division game that you expect to play well in,'' Stars coach Dave Tippett said. ``That was a combination of poor mistakes, not winning one-on-one battles and erratic play. At times, you had guys scared to make a play.''

Mike Modano and Jere Lehtinen had goals for the Stars (4-3) in the rematch.

``It's a tough loss,'' Stars defenseman Philippe Boucher said. ``You want to forget about it as quick as possible, but this one you've got to look at and see what happened and make sure you learn from it.''

Modano's power-play goal at 2:12 of the first period put Dallas in front, but Visnovsky tied it 16 seconds later on the Kings' first shot to start a six-goal run.

Demitra's fifth of the season at 4:54 of the first period gave Los Angeles a 2-1 lead.

When Frolov made it 3-1 at 8:33 of the first period, the Kings' third goal in six shots, Tippett pulled goaltender Marty Turco for Johan Hedberg.

``Everybody didn't do their part tonight and we weren't sharp,'' Turco said.

Los Angeles kept up the pressure against Hedberg with second-period goals from Brown, Conroy, Robitaille and Parros. Lehtinen had a second-period, power-play goal, his fifth of the season.

``It was nice to get rewarded on the score sheet and contribute on the offensive end,'' said Parros, playing in his eighth NHL game. ``It's especially nice when your team is on the winning side of things. I'm glad we were able to get two wins on the road.''

Notes: Stars D Sergei Zubov was out due to back spasms. ... Kings C Sean Avery was scratched because of a sprained ankle. ... Turco was seeking his 100th career victory. ... Robitaille's goal came at 18:20 of the second period following a video review. His shot appeared to hit the post, but replay showed that the puck entered the upper right corner of the net before popping out.
