IceCast
lets
the user follow the hockey game as it is happening with more than just
knowing the score. The right module updates continuously with a play-by-play
description of the action. The left module show where each shot was
taken on the ice while the lower module features games statistics.
A link to IceCast
can be found on the scoreboard page under each individual game.

in period, period and shots taken. Scoring by periods can be viewed
with the period-by-period key.

scoreboard takes the user through NHL action with the back
and next keys. The user can view the box score or
recap on the game selected or launch the IceCast for
that specific contest. The teams' links takes the user to the clubs'
page with more statistics and news. The headlines provides
a quick link to the latest NHL news on NHL.com.

rink module shows shots and goals as they happen. Users can toggle
from periods to view shots and goals. Periods can
be combined to view more than one session at a time.
4
Below
the rink display, the home and visitor keys display
teams rosters. Using the scroll function at the right, users can
view the entire team's roster with players' numbers and positions.
Also listed are game stats, including shots (SH), goals (G), assists
(A), penalties in minutes (PIM) and time on ice (TIM). Users can

throughout the contest at hand and the entire year.

The
alert button is used to alert the user when an event happens
during the contest such as a visitor goal, home goal or the two-minute
warning for each period. When a user checks an event, the browser
will pop up when minimized when the event occurs. The shrink
key is a convenient way to show just the top scoreboard module.
The about key displays this page.
6
The
right module shows a brief description of the action as it takes
place. Using the scrolling function at the right, users can move
back and forth to read descriptions of the action. Period keys at
the top of the display are used to view the action for each period
while goals, shots, penalties and more
keys at the bottom can be highlighted to view only that specific
action.
7
The
matchup tab on the right side of the display shows how the
teams fair head to head. Links to player statistics, roster, team
news and standings are shown at the top of the page while standings,
statistics, head-to-head results and upcoming dates are displayed
in the body.
8
The
boxscore tab displays a full boxscore for the contest at
hand. The user can toggle back and forth between teams with the
home and visitor keys at the top of the display. The
statistics displayed are for the game at hand and are continuously
updated throughout the contest.

on Internet Explorer on your personal computer, please diagnose
the problem below and then follow the instructions provided.
Problem:

Solution: You will need to download the Sun JVM. To download from
Sun, click here: http://java.sun.com/getjava/.
Problem:
IceCast won't load on my Windows 95 or 98 machine.
Solution: Head to the "Tools" menu, then select "Internet Options"
and then select "Advanced." When in Advanced, scroll down to the
"Microsoft VM" section and uncheck the box that states "JIT compiler
for virtual machine enabled." The box needs to be unchecked in
order for IceCast to load. After making this change, shut down
your browser and restart your computer. IceCast should work on
your next visit to the site. This problem is a known issue involving
some Windows 95 and Windows 98 machines.
