20220306 Tuch Mediawall Final Horn

The Buffalo Sabres were unable to keep their winning ways going Sunday afternoon in a 3-0 loss to the Los Angeles Kings at KeyBank Center.
Dustin Tokarski made 29 saves in the defeat.
Los Angeles' Andreas Athanasiou scored twice and Dustin Brown also potted one. Cal Petersen made 19 saves to earn his third-career shutout.
Sabres forward Alex Tuch left the game midway through the third period with an injury.
Buffalo's power play was 0-for-1 and the team was 1-for-1 on the penalty kill.

How it happened

The game's first goal didn't come until there was 3:05 remaining in the second period. Athanasiou's wrist shot from 32 feet out beat Tokarski high.
With 8:55 remaining in regulation, Tuch had to be helped off the ice after he collided with the left goal post of the Kings' net. While killing a penalty, Tuch turned up for an offensive chance and crashed into the post while pursuing a rebound.
The Kings added a pair of empty-net goals in the final minute of play. Athanasiou scored with 58.2 seconds left and then Brown put one into the empty cage with 7.0 seconds to go.
