jeanneret split

Buffalo Sabres players showed the ultimate sign of respect to broadcaster Rick Jeanneret, who was
honored by the team
Friday.

Players, led by forwards Alex Tuch and Cody Eakin, brought the 79-year-old out to the ice and gave him much-earned stick taps as the adoring KeyBank Center crowd roared.

Sabres lined up on each side of the veteran announcer, who started with the team in 1971, and tapped their sticks on the ice.
The night was all about Jeanneret from the start, as Sabres players entered the arena wearing his trademark suspenders.

The team played a touching tribute video saying no one could have told the story of the franchise quite like Jeanneret.

The team also wore special patches on their jerseys in honor of "RJ."

And, of course, the team found a way to honor so many of the iconic phrases he's coined through the years.
