DETROIT (AP) - The Detroit Red Wings signed forward Mikael Samuelsson to a one-year contract, the team said Saturday.
Samuelsson, 28, originally was drafted by San Jose in the fifth round of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. He has played for the Sharks, the New York Rangers, Pittsburgh and Florida, accumulating 19 goals and 30 assists in his 188 NHL games.
Samuelsson also played parts of two seasons in the AHL with Kentucky and Hartford, with 35 goals and 52 assists in 74 games.
