What did Don Del Negro do to pass the time during the off-season? He went to St. Petersburg, Russia, to serve as athletic trainer for Team USA at the 2000 World Championships. Del Negro, 37, has a diverse background in athletic healthcare from his two-and-a-half-year tenure as an assistant athletic trainer at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, N.Y., where he worked with various U.S. athletes preparing for the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary. Del Negro served as an athletic trainer for the U.S. wrestling team at the 1991 Pan-American Games in Havana, Cuba, and the U.S. Olympic bobsled and luge teams at the 1992 Winter Olympic Games in Albertville, France. Don received an undergraduate degree in physical education from Westfield State College in 1984 and a master's degree in athletic training from Indiana State University in 1986. The North Adams, Mass., native launched his healthcare career as an assistant athletic trainer at Amherst College from 1984-85. From 1988-93, Del Negro was director of sports medicine at Williams College, Williamstown, Mass. He accepted the Bruins' top athletic trainer post in 1993 and was honored to serve as host athletic trainer for the 1996 NHL All-Star Game at the Fleet Center in Boston. Peter Henderson, 43, joined the Bruins in 1997 after serving as assistant equipment manager for the New Jersey Devils for two seasons. He also served as equipment manager for the American Hockey League's Providence Bruins, Maine Mariners and the International Hockey League's Peoria Prancers. He was honored to serve as equipment manager at the 1995 American Hockey League All-Star Game in Providence, R.I. Peter is a certified member of the Athletic Equipment Managers Association. The Rockland, Maine, native received a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Prince Edward Island. Peter, who enjoys baseball and golf, resides in Boston.
