1995 DEVILS TEAM HONORED THROUGHOUT THE WEEKEND

The New Jersey Devils celebrated the 20th Anniversary of their 1995 Stanley Cup Championship. More than 20 players and coaches reunited during two days of festivities from March 7-8. The celebration began Saturday at AmeriHealth Pavilion with an alumni charity game featuring the stars of the 1995 Stanley Cup Championship. Members of the Devils' first Stanley Cup team were also honored in a pre-game ceremony prior to the game at Prudential Center on Sunday.

RANGERS DOWN BLACKHAWKS IN OVERTIME, INCH CLOSER TO METROPOLITAN LEAD

After a scoreless 60 minutes, Derick Brassard scored 32 seconds into overtime to lift the New York Rangers to a 1-0 victory against the Chicago Blackhawks. The Rangers have earned points in 13 of their past 14 games (10-1-3) and are 40-17-7 (87 points) this season. The Rangers moved within one point of the idle New York Islanders, who rank first in the Metropolitan Division standings with a record of 42-21-4 (88 points).

* The Rangers have earned points in eight consecutive games versus Western Conference opponents (6-0-2). The eight-game streak against teams in the Western Conference is their longest since a 10-game streak from Nov. 26, 1996-Jan. 21, 1997 (8-0-2).

* Cam Talbot stopped all 29 shots he faced to record his fifth shutout of the season. Talbot is 14-6-4 this season with a 2.33 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage. He's 5-1-1 in his past seven decisions.

* Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist has posted five shutouts this season. Two Rangers goaltenders have posted at least five shutouts in one season for the first time in their history.

* The shutout was the Rangers' 10th of the season. They have recorded 10 or more shutouts in one season a total of eight times in Rangers history.

* The Rangers have won seven of their past 10 games versus the Blackhawks (7-2-1).

* The Rangers have won six of their past eight road games (6-1-1).

* The marker was Brassard’s third game-winning goal of the season.

SPECIAL TEAMS POWER BOSTON AGAINST DETROIT ...

The Boston Bruins notched two shorthanded goals and two power-play goals in a 5-3 victory against the Detroit Red Wings. The Bruins have earned points in five consecutive games (4-0-1) and are 33-22-10 (76 points) this season. Boston occupies the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference and moved within six points of the idle Washington Capitals, who occupy the first wild-card spot with a record of 36-21-10 (82 points).

* According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the most-recent time the Bruins scored multiple shorthanded goals in a game was on Oct. 3, 2013 in a 3-1 victory against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Elias also says that they hadn't scored multiple shorthanded goals and multiple power-play goals in a game since Feb. 17, 2009 in a 5-1 win against the Carolina Hurricanes.

* Daniel Paille (2-0-2) scored on a shorthanded breakaway and added a second tally to post his first multi-goal performance since Dec. 14, 2011 (2-0-2). The first marker was Paille's first shorthanded goal of the season and the second marker was his first game-winning goal of the season.

* Brad Marchand (1-0-1) opened the scoring on a shorthanded breakaway with his 22nd goal of the season and has scored in a season-high four consecutive games (5-1-6). Marchand's four-game goal streak also matched a career-high; he scored in four straight games from Jan. 14-20, 2014 (6-1-7) in the midst of a six-game point streak (7-5-12). Marchand's tally was his team-leading second shorthanded goal of the season and the 15th of his career, allowed him to break a tie with Ray Bourque and David Reid for sole possession of sixth on the Bruins' all-time shorthanded goals list.

* Loui Eriksson (1-0-1) scored his 16th goal of the season on a power-play and extended his point streak to three games (2-1-3). The marker also stood as the fifth power-play goal of the season for Eriksson, who is tied for the team-lead in the category. David Pastrnak (1-0-1) scored his eighth goal of the season on a power-play. The marker was the second power-play goal of the season for Pastrnak.

* Niklas Svedberg made a career-high 36 saves on a career-high 39 shots to win his third consecutive decision. Svedberg is 7-5-0 this season with a 2.43 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage.

... WHILE SENATORS, DEVILS EARN WINS TO KEEP PACE IN EASTERN CONFERENCE STANDINGS

The Ottawa Senators earned a 5-4 shootout win against the Calgary Flames and the New Jersey Devils earned a 5-2 win against the Philadelphia Flyers. They moved within five and 10 points of the Boston Bruins in the Eastern Conference standings, respectively.

* After their 4-0 lead disappeared in the third period, Erik Karlsson netted the shootout-winner to power the Senators. Ottawa has earned points in nine straight games (8-0-1) and is 30-23-11 (71 points) overall this season.

* According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the most-recent time Ottawa earned points in nine or more consecutive games was when it also posted a record of 8-0-1 through nine games from Dec. 30, 2011-Jan. 14, 2012.

* Milan Michalek (1-0-1) scored his 12th goal of the season and extended his point streak to three games (1-3-4), which matched a season-high.

* In his first game since Jan. 21, Craig Anderson made 42 saves through 65 minutes and additionally stopped four of six shooters in the shootout. He is 14-11-7 this season with a 2.42 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage. Anderson also earned his first shootout win of the season.

* Adam Henrique (2-0-2) recorded his first multi-goal game of the season to propel the Devils. New Jersey has earned points in eight of its past 10 games (7-2-1) and is 28-28-10 (66 points) overall this season.

* Steve Bernier (0-3-3) recorded the first three-assist game of his career.

* Stephen Gionta (1-1-2) scored his fourth goal and added his seventh assist to post his second multi-point performance of the season.

* Andy Greene (0-2-2) recorded his first multi-assist game of the season and extended his season-high point streak to four games (1-4-5).

* Scott Gomez (0-2-2) posted his fifth multi-assist performance of the season. The performance brought Gomez's career assist total with the Devils to 355, allowing him to leapfrog John MacLean for sole possession of third on the Devils' all-time assists list. Gomez also reached 476 points with the Devils (121-355-476), allowing him to tie Scott Niedermayer for fourth on New Jersey's all-time points list.

* Eric Gelinas (1-0-1) scored his sixth goal of the season on a power-play. The tally was also the third power-play goal and the second game-winning goal of the season for Gelinas.

* Jacob Josefson (1-0-1) scored his fourth goal of the season while shorthanded. Josefson leads the Devils in shorthanded goals; three of his four goals this season have been scored on the penalty kill.

* Keith Kinkaid made 25 saves and is 4-4-3 this season with a 2.54 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage.

AVALANCHE EARN THIRD STRAIGHT VICTORY IN WIN AGAINST WILD

The Colorado Avalanche earned their third consecutive win via a 3-2 victory against the Minnesota Wild. Colorado is 30-25-11 (71 points) this season and moved within seven points of the idle Winnipeg Jets, who occupy the final wild-card spot in the Western Conference with a record of 33-21-12 (78 points).

* Gabriel Landeskog (1-1-2) scored his 19th goal on a power-play and added his 27th assist to record his 10th multi-point game of the season and extended his point streak to three games (3-3-6). The marker was the sixth power-play goal of the season for Landeskog, which tied a career-high, and was his second game-winning goal of the season.

* Zach Redmond (1-1-2) scored his fifth goal and added his 10th assist to record his second multi-point game of the season.

* Jarome Iginla (0-2-2) posted his sixth multi-assist performance of the season and extended his point streak to three games (2-2-4).

* In his 22nd straight start, Semyon Varlamov made 29 saves to earn his third consecutive victory. Varlamov is 22-17-7 this season with a 2.56 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage.

* With a shutout in his previous outing, Varlamov posted a shutout streak of 124:19 before allowing a Minnesota goal at 14:04 of the third period. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the shutout streak was the second-longest of his career; his best is a streak of 129:23 from March 1-6, 2012.

LINDHOLM’S CAREER AFTERNOON HELPS CAROLINA RALLY PAST EDMONTON

The Carolina Hurricanes scored six consecutive goals to overcome a three-goal deficit and Elias Lindholm (3-2-5) recorded the first hat trick of his career to power Carolina Hurricanes to a 7-4 win against the Edmonton Oilers. The seven goals were a season-high for the Hurricanes.

* According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the most-recent time the Hurricanes rallied from a three-goal deficit was on Dec. 31, 2013 in a 5-4 regulation victory against the Montreal Canadiens. Elias also says the Hurricanes hadn't scored six consecutive goals in a game since April 8, 2011 when they defeated the Atlanta Thrashers by a score of 6-1.

* According to the Elias Sports Bureau, at 20 years, 96 days old, Lindholm is the youngest Carolina player to record a hat trick since the franchise relocated to Raleigh. Lindholm is the fourth-youngest player in Hurricanes history to record a hat trick. Ron Francis recorded a hat trick on March 6, 1983 at 20 years, 5 days old versus the Quebec Nordiques, Jody Hull recorded a hat trick on Feb. 26, 1989 at 20 years, 24 days old versus the Pittsburgh Penguins and Sylvain Turgeon recorded a hat trick on March 3, 1985 at 20 years, 45 days old against the Vancouver Canucks.

* Lindholm had two assists to post the first five-point performance of his career. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Lindholm is the youngest Carolina player to record a five-point game since it relocated to Raleigh. Ron Francis was the only younger player in Hurricanes history to accomplish the same feat; he posted five assists (0-5-5) on Oct. 16, 1982 at 19 years, 229 days old versus the Vancouver Canucks.

* Edmonton forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (3-1-4) recorded a hat trick. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the most-recent time two hat tricks were recorded in a game by players on opposing teams was Jan. 18, 2014 in a game between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the San Jose Sharks. Martin St. Louis of the Lightning scored four goals and Joe Pavelski of the Sharks had three goals.

* Eric Staal (0-4-4) recorded his first four-assist game of the season, which matched a career-high; he also accomplished the feat against Edmonton on Nov. 9, 2010 where he had four helpers in a 7-1 win.

* Jeff Skinner (2-0-2) scored two power-play goals to record his first multi-goal game of the season. Skinner's second marker also stood as his second game-winning goal of the season.

* Victor Rask (0-2-2) recorded his second multi-assist game of the season.

* Cam Ward made 16 saves and is 18-20-4 with a 2.47 goals against average and a .909 save percentage. Ward has won five of his past six decisions (5-1-0).

* Alexander Semin (1-0-1) sparked the Carolina rally by scoring a highlight reel no-look goal from his stomach.
