Wednesday, 08.06.2014 / 4:51 AM

CALGARY, Alberta (AP) -Jay Bouwmeester scored one of Florida's two goals in the third period and the Panthers beat the Calgary Flames 3-2 in a preseason game Tuesday night.

After Rostislav Olesz tied it 2-2 for the Panthers at 10:14, Bouwmeester put Florida ahead with 3:27 left. Bouwmeester cut toward the net and backhanded a shot that just squeaked into the short side past goalie Curtis McElhinney.

David Booth also scored for the Panthers, and goalie Craig Anderson made 24 saves to record the win.

Dustin Boyd scored a goal and set up one by Calgary captain Jarome Iginla. McElhinney stopped 21 of 24 Florida shots.

Todd Bertuzzi started the game on a line with Iginla and 19-year-old Swedish prospect Mikael Backlund. When he was introduced the fans gave Bertuzzi, who signed a one-year contract with the Flames on July 7, a rousing ovation.

The line accounted for one shot on net in the first period, by Backlund. The trio was on the ice at 1:19 of the second period when Booth banged a loose puck past McElhinney after a giveaway by defenseman Anders Eriksson.

Boyd got the Flames on the board at 13:02 of the second period when he converted a feed from Jamie Lundmark.

The Flames then took a 2-1 lead in the final minute of the second period when Boyd spotted Iginla streaking toward the net and hit him with a cross-ice pass. Iginla cut around Florida defenseman Karlis Skrastins and roofed a shot over Anderson for a power-play goal.

In the third, Olesz took a nice pass from Anthony Stewart in front of the net before scoring past a sprawling McElhinney.
