Roundup: Tatar's hat trick lifts Wings past Blackhawks

Tomas Tatar had a hat trick to lead the Detroit Red Wings to a 4-1 win against the Chicago Blackhawks at Joe Louis Arena on Wednesday.

Red Wings forward Justin Abdelkader also scored, center Brad Richards had three assists, and defensemen Jakub Kindl and Niklas Kronwall had two assists each. Goalie Petr Mrazek made saves on all 16 shots he faced before being relieved by Jared Coreau, who made 15 saves.

Andrew Shaw scored a power-play goal for the Blackhawks at 14:29 of the second period. Corey Crawford allowed one goal on eight shots; Michael Leighton made 14 saves.

Chicago was 1-for-6 on the power play; Detroit was 1-for-4.

Islanders 2, Devils 1: Brock Nelson and Travis Hamonic scored in the first period, and Kevin Poulin made 22 saves in the New York Islanders' win against the New Jersey Devils at Barclays Center.

Lee Stempniak scored for New Jersey at 17:59 of the second period.

Islanders goalie Christopher Gibson relieved Poulin at the start of the third period and made five saves.

Cory Schneider played the entire game for the Devils and made 25 saves.

Nelson scored shorthanded 3:57 into the game before Hamonic made it 2-0 off a feed from John Tavares at 5:32.

Each team was 0-for-5 on the power play.

Senators 5, Sabres 2: Five players scored for the Ottawa Senators in their victory against the Buffalo Sabres at First Niagara Center.

Max McCormick opened the scoring at 6:00 of the second period, and Alex Chiasson scored 1:59 later to increase the Senators lead to 2-0.

Zack Stortini's goal at 9:26 of the second period gave Ottawa a 3-0 lead.

Evander Kane, playing in his first game with the Sabres after being acquired in a trade with the Winnipeg Jets on Feb. 11, scored a shorthanded goal at 2:23 of the third period to make it 3-1. After Mika Zibanejad scored to restore Ottawa's three-goal lead, Kane scored with the Sabres on the power play with 3:34 remaining to make it 4-2.

Senators center Ryan Dzingel scored an empty-net goal 30 seconds later.

Ottawa goalie Matthew O'Connor made denied each of the 18 shots he faced before being relieved by Chris Driedger, who allowed two goals on 24 shots.

Buffalo goalie Robin Lehner made 16 saves on 19 shots. Andrey Makarov made five saves on six shots in 19:18.

Predators 5, Lightning 2: Craig Smith scored twice, and Colin Wilson, Roman Josi and Mike Ribeiro each had two assists in the Nashville Predators' win against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Bridgestone Arena.

James Neal, Shea Weber and Colton Sissons had goals for Nashville. Pekka Rinne played the entire game and made 30 saves.

Vladislav Namestnikov and J.T. Brown scored for the Lightning. Adam Wilcox allowed four goals on 21 shots; Allen York made eight saves.

Nashville was 2-for-7 on the power play; Tampa Bay was 1-for-4.

Oilers 3, Jets 2: Matt Hendricks scored on a penalty shot late in the third period to give the Edmonton Oilers the victory against the Winnipeg Jets at Rexall Place.

Defenseman Adam Pardy was called for holding Hendricks on a shorthanded breakaway with 2:12 left in the third, and the Edmonton forward scored against Winnipeg goalie Eric Comrie on the penalty shot for the game-winner.

Justin Schultz and Jordan Eberle scored power-play goals for the Oilers. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had two assists.

Ben Chiarot and Lowry scored goals 6:10 apart in the third period to erase Edmonton's 2-0 lead.

Jets goalie Michael Hutchinson made saves on 21 of 22 shots through two periods before being relieved by Comrie, who made 10 saves on 12 shots.

Cam Talbot played the entire game for the Oilers and made 30 saves.

Oilers rookie center Connor McDavid did not play.
