Parise, Lombardi, and Kovalchuk named 'Three Stars'

NEW YORK -- New Jersey Devils left wing Zach Parise, Calgary Flames center Matthew Lombardi and Atlanta Thrashers left wing Ilya Kovalchuk have been named the NHL's 'Three Stars' for the week ending Feb. 15.

FIRST STAR -- ZACH PARISE, LW, NEW JERSEY DEVILS Parise Highlights

Parise led the League in scoring for the week with eight points (four goals, four assists) as the Devils (37-17-3) recorded four consecutive victories and increased their Atlantic Division lead to eight points. He notched two goals in a 3-0 victory over the New York Rangers Feb. 9, tallied four points (two goals, two assists) in a 4-2 win over the New York Islanders Feb. 11 and notched a pair of assists in a 6-5 win over the San Jose Sharks Feb. 15. Parise is tied for second in the NHL goal-scoring race with a career-high 34 and ranks fifth in points with 69.

SECOND STAR -- MATTHEW LOMBARDI, C, CALGARY FLAMES Lombardi Highlights

Lombardi recorded seven points (three goals, four assists) last week, helping the Flames (33-18-5) earn seven of eight available points and extend their lead atop the Northwest Division to nine points. He recorded one goal and two assists in a 6-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens Feb. 9, notched one assist in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Anaheim Ducks Feb. 11 and scored two goals, including the game-winner, and one assist in a 7-5 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes Feb. 14.

THIRD STAR -- ILYA KOVALCHUK, LW, ATLANTA THRASHERS Kovalchuk Highlights

Kovalchuk led NHL goal-scorers last week with five as the Thrashers recorded two victories in three starts. He notched one goal in a 3-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning Feb. 10, recorded the Thrashers' lone tally in a 3-1 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks Feb. 11 and ended the week by tallying his 11th career hat trick and one assist in an 8-4 win over the Anaheim Ducks Feb. 15. Kovalchuk's three-goal outburst came in a 6:51 span of the second period and extended his goal-scoring streak to four games. The Thrashers captain leads his club in scoring with 58 points (27 goals, 31 assists) in 57 games.
