Lightning's Johnson, Wings' Howard could miss out

Tampa Bay Lightning forward Tyler Johnson and Detroit Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard were each selected to the 2015 Honda NHL All-Star Game, but are in jeopardy of missing it because of recent injuries.

Coach Mike Babcock said Howard has been ruled out of the game, according to an Associated Press report. Howard was injured in a game against the Washington Capitals when he stretched to attempt to make a save in the first period. On Tuesday, general manager Ken Holland said an ultrasound revealed a slight groin tear that will keep Howard out 2-4 weeks, according to MLive.com.

Johnson sustained a lower-body injury during a game against the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday. Coach Jon Cooper said Johnson will not play Tuesday against the Boston Bruins, but labeled him day-to-day and said there is a chance Johnson could play again before the all-star break. Including their game on Tuesday, the Lightning have four games remaining before the all-star break.

This was Johnson's first all-star selection. Howard was previously selected in 2012. There have not yet been any replacement selections made.
