The Ottawa Senators have recalled goaltender Robin Lehner from Binghamton of the American Hockey League.

Senators goalie Craig Anderson suffered an ankle injury in the third period of Thursday's 3-2 shootout win over the New York Rangers. Ben Bishop relieved and stopped six of seven attempts in the shootout to earn the victory. Anderson's injury isn't considered to be severe, and he's listed as day-to-day.

The 21-year-old Lehner has appeared in 13 NHL games for the Senators over the previous two seasons, posting a 4-6-0 record with a 2.81 goals-against average and .910 save percentage.

The Senators also assigned forward Stephane Da Costa to Binghamton. Da Costa had one goal and one assist in nine games for Ottawa this season.

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Winnipeg Jets announced that Zach Redmond underwent surgery Thursday for approximately three hours to repair a laceration to his right femoral artery and vein.

Redmond left the ice by ambulance near the end of Thursday's morning skate after being cut on the back of the leg during a 1-on-1 drill.

"We were trying to get our extra players conditioned, and there was a 1-on-1 battle at the net where he tripped up and landed on his back," Jets coach Claude Noel said. "(Another) player happened to step on him and cut him just above the back of the knee."

The Jets later said in a statement that Redmond was resting comfortably in recovery and is expected to be out indefinitely.

Jaroslav Halak is healthy again, and that means Jake Allen finds himself back in the American Hockey League.

The St. Louis Blues assigned Allen to their affiliate in Peoria on Thursday, one day after Halak performed admirably in a 1-0 overtime loss to Colorado, stopping the first 19 shots he faced.

Allen started four straight games for the Blues while Halak was on the shelf, winning the first three. In five total appearances this season, the 22-year-old Allen is 3-1-0 with a 2.62 goals-against average and .895 save percentage.

Detroit Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard plans to start Thursday against the Columbus Blue Jackets after he was pulled from the team's previous game with blurry vision.

Howard left in the first period of Tuesday night's 4-3 overtime loss to the Nashville Predators after giving up two goals on seven shots.

In other lineup news, forward Jan Mursak is set to play for the first time since opening night, when he injured his collarbone. Defenseman Kent Huskins is set to replace Jakub Kindl on the blue line.

Carolina Hurricanes forward Jeff Skinner has a concussion and is listed by the team as day-to-day.

Skinner, the team's second-leading scorer with seven goals and 14 points in 13 games, missed 16 games last season because of a concussion. He was injured last Thursday during Carolina's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, during which he took a couple of hard hits and went helmet-first into the boards on one of those hits.

Skinner said after the game he felt fine; he practiced Friday and took part in a fan event that night. But he was unable to practice Sunday and sat out Monday's game at the Montreal Canadiens. He has not practiced this week.

Skinner's 14 points trail only Eric Staal (17) on the Hurricanes. Skinner scored 31 goals in 2010-11 on the way to winning the Calder Trophy, then scored 20 last season despite the time missed.

He signed a six-year, $34 million contract extension with the Hurricanes in August.

The Carolina Hurricanes have recalled defenseman Ryan Murphy, their first-round pick in the 2011 NHL Draft, from his junior team, the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League, according to a report.

The emergency recall comes with the Hurricanes beset by injuries to their defense, including veterans Joni Pitkanen and Tim Gleason.

Murphy has eight goals and 39 points in 46 games this season, his fourth with Kitchener. He posted 26 goals and 79 points during the 2010-11 season before being taken by the Hurricanes with the 12th pick of the draft.

The player poised to be among the NHL's top free-agent goaltenders this summer is already off the market.

Viktor Fasth, the Swedish sensation who has posted an 8-0-0 record in his first NHL season with the Anaheim Ducks, has signed a two-year extension with the club that will run through the 2014-15 season. Per club policy, financial terms of the extension were not divulged, but Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reported it was for $5.8 million ($2.4 million next season and $3.4 million in 2014-15).

New York Rangers forward Rick Nash isn't traveling with the team for Thursday night's game against the Ottawa Senators, according to multiple reports.

Nash didn't play in Tuesday night's 3-1 home loss to the Montreal Canadiens because of an undisclosed injury. He hasn't been ruled out to rejoin the team in time for Saturday night's rematch in Montreal.

Detroit Red Wings general manager Ken Holland announced Wednesday that veteran forward Mikael Samuelsson has a non-displaced fractured finger and will miss a minimum of two weeks, according to a report by Detroit Free Press beat writer Helene St. James.

Samuelsson had missed 12 games this season with a groin injury, returned to the lineup Sunday against the Minnesota Wild, but took an Ian White shot off his left hand during the morning skate prior to Tuesday's game against the Nashville Predators.

St. James reported the Red Wings are awaiting test results on Jimmy Howard, who left the 4-3 overtime loss to the Predators in the first period with blurry vision. Howard gave up two goals on seven shots before he was lifted and replaced by Jonas Gustavsson.

The Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday sent defenseman Nate Guenin to Norfolk of the American Hockey League and goaltender Jeff Deslauriers to Fort Wayne of the ECHL.

The Deslauriers move comes a day after Jonas Hiller was able to return to the lineup after missing 10 days with a lower-body injury. He stopped 25 of 27 shots in a 3-2 win Monday against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Deslauriers spent four games as the backup to Viktor Fasth.

Guenin was a healthy scratch in four games after being recalled Feb. 11.
