Selanne, Getzlaf injured in Ducks' win
San Jose Sharks 2, Anaheim Ducks 4
Teemu Selanne is thisclose to his 600th NHL goal. When that will come, though, is anybody's guess.

The fantastic Finn tallied No. 599 on Sunday night during a one-sided first period that saw the Anaheim Ducks score three times en route to a 4-2 win against the San Jose Sharks at the Honda Center. The victory snapped Anaheim's five-game skid.

But Selanne suffered an upper-body injury in the third period, when his head and left shoulder slammed into the boards after he failed to convert a pass from Saku Koivu and lost his balance. Selanne remained on the ice hunched over for a couple of minutes before making it back to the dressing room under his own power, but did not return.

After the game, the team announced Selanne will undergo tests on Monday. Ryan Getzlaf also re-injured his left ankle and is listed as day-to-day. He will also be evaluated on Monday.

"I don't know at this point," Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said when asked about the extent of the injuries to Selanne and Getzlaf. "They just said that there were some preliminary examinations, but they haven't given me anything definitive at this point."

Jonas Hiller made 31 saves and Corey Perry started a three-goal first period for the Ducks, who finished with one victory in their six-game season series against the Pacific Division-leading Sharks.

"We've been on a downward spiral for the last little bit," forward Bobby Ryan said. "To come out tonight and beat one of, if not the best team in the League, it does wonders for confidence going forward."

The Ducks didn't score more than two goals against Evgeni Nabokov (29 saves) in any of the other five meetings. On Sunday, though, three their first 10 shots found their way past Nabokov.

Perry opened the scoring 3:27 into the game, when he crashed the net and poked Ryan's rebound past Nabokov for his 24th goal of the season. Selanne made it 2-0 at 7:40, when he one-timed a feed from Koivu past Nabokov's glove for his 21st tally.

"We knew coming into the game that we had to be ready to play," Perry said. "The energy was high and the emotion was there. We came out with the win."

Visnovsky gave Anaheim a three-goal lead in the final minute of the first period on a goal Nabokov would love to have back. Visnovsky, who now has three goals in five games since being acquired from Edmonton, fired a 50-foot slap shot that went off Nabokov's left arm and trickled into the net.

"The way we played in the first two periods, there was just a lack of emotions or want," Sharks defenseman Dan Boyle said. "We talked about it. Everyone was aware of it. We coasted into the playoffs last year. That was exactly the type of game that we don't want to have going into the playoffs."

Nabokov, meanwhile, has allowed 15 goals in five games since returning from the Olympics.

"We have to realize one thing -- that teams are going to be desperate,'' he said. ''We are facing only desperate teams, so we have to be prepared and play almost as desperate as they are -- because if we don't match their work ethic, we are not going to win.''

Joe Thornton made it a 3-1 game 9:06 into the third period, but the Sharks couldn't cut the deficit in half before Ryan scored into an empty-net at 18:47. Jamie McGinn rounded out the scoring at 19:04.

Material from wire services and broadcast media was used in this report.
