Rask leads Bruins to another win
Boston Bruins 3, Buffalo Sabres 2
Tuukka Rask did it again on Tuesday night.

Just two days after shutting down the Montreal Canadiens, the young goaltender made 43 saves and David Krejci notched the winner in the fourth round of the shootout as the Boston Bruins earned a 3-2 victory against the Buffalo Sabres at HSBC Arena.

After losing five straight in regulation as part of a 10-game winless streak, the Bruins (25-22-11) have picked up points in five of their last six games (2-1-3). Rask has made four straight starts for the Bruins, allowing only six goals during that span.

"Tuukka stood tall for us," Boston coach Claude Julien said. "He made some big saves, and he's been good for us. He's getting an opportunity to play some consecutive games and he's really taking advantage of it."

Meanwhile, the Sabres are struggling. Their inability to earn a second point in the standings on Tuesday forced to drop into a first-place tie in the Northeast Division with the Ottawa Senators, who earned a 3-2 victory against Calgary.

Rookie defenseman Tyler Myers also scored for the slumping Sabres, who are just 2-7-2 in their last 11 games. Ryan Miller made 32 saves in the loss.

"It's not good enough," said Sabres forward Derek Roy, who scored the Sabres' first goal of the game in the second period. "We have to go out and play a full 60 minutes to get two points."

Daniel Paille ended a seven-game scoring drought for the Bruins by scoring the first two goals of the game. He opened the scoring on a wraparound at 4:51 of the first before doubling Boston's lead just over seven minutes later when he redirected Zdeno Chara's blast past Miller.

But Buffalo responded in the second period. Roy cut the deficit in half when he scored during a 5-on-3 man advantage at 4:35. Myers made it 2-2 with 1:25 remaining when his wrister went off Bruins defenseman Andrew Ference and past Rask.

"Bad start to the game," Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said. "For having a day off and then a practice day, I expected a lot more, especially in the first 10 minutes."

Jason Pominville and Sturm exchanged goals to open the shootout, and the score remained 1-1 after three rounds. Rask then came up big on Drew Stafford before Krejci beat Miller to give Boston its second straight victory.

"We found a way, and it's a big two points for us," Krejci said. "When you lose 10 in a row, it's in your head, so we can't think about what happened before."
