Bruins host Rangers in search of fifth win in row
New York Rangers vs. Boston Bruins

RANGERS (16-4-2) at BRUINS (12-8-1)

Season series: The Boston Bruins won two of three games against the New York Rangers last season. Torey Krug, Loui Eriksson and Patrice Bergeron each had three points to lead Boston. Rick Nash led New York with three points (two goals).

Rangers team scope: Nash scored his fifth goal in three games in a 5-1 loss against the Montreal Canadiens at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday; he had two in his first 17 games. New York has won three of its past five and is first in the Metropolitan Division with 34 points, three ahead of the Washington Capitals. But the Rangers aren't pleased with their play of late. "Over the last little bit we haven't been playing our best, but we've been getting the wins," defenseman Dan Girardi told the Daily News. "(But) it's never been like this, where we are a step behind, a little in between, indecisive, and it was like that all over the ice. We have to figure out how we can correct that, and we get right back at it. We have a lot of hockey coming up in the next week and we have to get our 'A' game back here and get it going." The Rangers lead the NHL in wins (59) and points (123) on the road since 2013-14, and have won 21 of their past 27 road games (21-4-2) dating to last season. Goalie Henrik Lundqvist is 21-11-2 with a 1.91 goals-against average in 34 career games against the Bruins, including 9-6-2 with a 1.67 GAA in 17 games in Boston.

Bruins team scope: Defenseman Kevan Miller, who has missed the past four games because of an upper-body injury, was among 11 players who participated in a brief practice at TD Garden on Thursday. Forward Zac Rinaldo said much of the credit for Boston's four-game winning streak should go to goalies Tuukka Rask and Jonas Gustavsson. "I'm happy for my teammates and the positon that our goalies put us in," Rinaldo said. "They did a great job this week, and I'm thankful for my goalies." The Bruins have allowed seven goals during the win streak, with each goalie earning two victories. Rookies Colin Miller and Frank Vatrano were instrumental in a 3-2 overtime win at the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday. Vatrano scored two goals, including the overtime winner, and Miller tied it with a goal late in the third period.
