Islanders look to cool off streaking Blue Jackets
New York Islanders vs. Columbus Blue Jackets

ISLANDERS (45-27-5) at BLUE JACKETS (37-35-4)

Season series: The New York Islanders have dominated their games against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Four points from John Tavares and four assists from rookie Anders Lee gave the Islanders a 6-3 win Feb. 14 at Nassau Coliseum. Lee has five points in two games.

Islanders team scope: Frans Nielsen left practice early Wednesday with an undisclosed injury and coach Jack Capuano is unsure if the forward will be available. "He's been taking some maintenance days, so today's no different," Capuano told the Islanders website. "We've given him some time to rest and heal and we've had him, so we'll talk to our trainers and see where we're at." Goalie Jaroslav Halak is likely to start, according to Newsday. The Islanders play three of their final five regular-season games on the road. Forward Kyle Okposo has three points (two goals, one assist) in his past five games after being held scoreless in his first four after returning from eye surgery. "When you get points, you get more confidence," Okposo said. "When you're not getting them, you might start to overthink things a little bit, fight that mental battle, but you have to trust your game and trust yourself as a player." One point separates three spots in the Metropolitan Division; the Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins each have 95 points and the Washington Capitals have 94.

Blue Jackets team scope: Despite winning seven straight games and 11 of 13, Columbus was eliminated from Stanley Cup Playoff contention Tuesday when the Boston Bruins defeated the Florida Panthers. A win against the Islanders would tie the longest winning streak in their history, set last season. "We want to show people what we're all about," defenseman Jack Johnson told The Columbus Dispatch. "There's a lot of pride in here. And even though we can't change what's already happened, we can control what’s next. So let's win games. Let's end this season in a good mood." The Blue Jackets play four of their final six games at Nationwide Arena. Forward Ryan Johansen is on an eight-game point streak (three goals, eight assists). He had streaks of 10 games and 13 games earlier this season. Goalie Sergei Bobrovsky has won 10 of 12 starts since returning from a groin injury.
