First-place Islanders, minus Okposo, host Rangers
New York Rangers vs. New York Islanders

RANGERS (27-13-4) at ISLANDERS (31-14-1)

Season series: The New York Islanders won the first two games against the New York Rangers this season, with each game taking place at Madison Square Garden. Islanders goalie Jaroslav Halak recorded his fourth shutout in a 3-0 victory on Jan. 13.

Rangers team scope: With a blizzard zoned in on New York City and its surrounding areas, the Rangers headed right to Long Island on Monday and will stay near Nassau Coliseum with hopes of the game being played Tuesday. Rangers forward Rick Nash scored two goals for Team Toews in a 17-12 win against Team Foligno in the 2015 Honda NHL All-Star Game at Nationwide Arena on Sunday. The Rangers won 16 of 19 games heading into the break.

Islanders team scope: The Islanders will face arguably their biggest test yet over the next 6-8 weeks, which is the amount of time they're expected to be without right wing Kyle Okposo. It was announced after the Islanders practiced Monday that Okposo (14 goals, 30 assists) has sustained an upper-body injury. He is expected to be placed on injured reserve. It is not known how or when Okposo was injured; he did participate in practice last Tuesday. "I kind of had an idea before the break, but it definitely comes as a shock," coach Jack Capuano said, according to the New York Post. "Not only, for me, is Kyle's play dictating how we go and the pace we play with, but it's his leadership. But we have a lot of guys in that room and it's another opportunity for somebody to step up. You have to deal with injuries throughout the year, but unfortunately, this is a tough one for us." Mikhail Grabovski (lower body) took Okposo's spot on the Islanders' top line with John Tavares and Josh Bailey on Monday and is expected to play Tuesday, along with defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky (upper body).
