Devils home off big win to face resurgent Lightning
Tampa Bay Lightning vs. New Jersey Devils

LIGHTNING (8-3-0) at DEVILS (2-5-4)

TV: NBCSN, TSN2

Last 10: Tampa Bay 8-2-0; New Jersey 2-4-4

Season series: The Tampa Bay Lightning won two of three meetings in 2012-13, including a 5-4 shootout decision in the series finale in Tampa. This is the first of three matchups this season. The teams will again play at Prudential Center on Dec. 14.

Big story: New Jersey Devils right wing Jaromir Jagr is certainly proving his worth despite his age. A great start to the season has the 41-year-old Jagr three points shy of 1,700 and 17 goals short of 700 for his NHL career. Signed to a one-year deal with the Devils in July, Jagr has connected for points in four straight games (six assists) and is currently tied for the team lead with Marek Zidlicky with nine (two goals, seven assists).

"I think he's consistently been our best forward night in and night out, which is really amazing considering he's 41 years old," Devils coach Peter DeBoer said of Jagr. "He's been very, very good."

Lightning: Tampa Bay won its third straight on Sunday, a 4-3 shootout victory against the Florida Panthers. Steven Stamkos, the game's first star, scored in the fourth round of the tiebreaker to give the Lightning the decision. The shootout goal was a rare occurrence for one of the game's brightest young stars since he entered the game scoring just five times on 27 chances. Anders Lindback made 29 saves in regulation and overtime before stopping three of four in the shootout, including Jonathan Huberdeau, Aleksander Barkov and Dmitry Kulikov. It was Lindback's first victory of the season.

"He stopped a couple of their guys in the shootout," coach Jon Cooper said of Lindback. "That's where you need your goalie to stand up and win a game. He did that for us."

Devils: After scoring one power-play goal in the first six games of the season, the Devils have connected for eight in the past five. The team scored four power-play goals on seven attempts on Saturday, including two in the final 1:08, to rally for a 4-3 victory over the Boston Bruins at TD Garden. Andy Greene's power-play goal with just 44.1 seconds remaining in the third snapped a 3-3 tie. It was New Jersey's first win in Boston since Nov. 27, 2009, and the first time they scored at least four power-play goals in a game since Jan. 22, 2008, when they had five in a 7-3 win in Philadelphia. Devils goalie Martin Brodeur made 25 saves to earn his first victory of the season.

Who's hot: Devils rookie defenseman Eric Gelinas has one goal and two points in two games since being recalled from Albany on Oct. 23. … Lightning captain Martin St. Louis is on a three-game point streak (three goals, four points).

Injury report: Devils forward Ryane Clowe (head), defenseman Bryce Salvador (fractured foot) and goalie Cory Schneider (lower body) are out. … Lightning forward Tom Pyatt (shoulder) is out.
