GAME: Los Angeles Kings (30-21-3) at Anaheim Mighty Ducks (23-17-10).
TIME: Monday, 10:30 p.m. EST.
So far, 2006 has been very good to Teemu Selanne.
The Mighty Ducks forward tries for his 1,000th career point when Anaheim meets the Los Angeles Kings in the finale of a home-and-home series at Arrowhead Pond.
Selanne has points in 11 straight games, recording four goals and 13 assists during that span to pull within two points of the milestone. He would become the 70th player in NHL history with 1,000 points and the second this season to reach to mark, joining Boston defenseman Brian Leetch.
Selanne had two assists to help Anaheim defeat Los Angeles 6-2 at Staples Center on Saturday. The Ducks tied a team record with four power-play goals to win their second straight game.
"We were ready to play," Selanne said. "We haven't had much success in this building, so this was a good confidence boost."
Selanne has four assists in his last three games against Los Angeles.
Mike Cammalleri scored both Kings goals on the power play in Saturday's loss, Los Angeles' third in a row.
The Kings got back leading goal scorer Pavol Demitra, who missed 10 games because of nerve damage in his right leg, and Eric Belanger, sidelined 13 games with a groin strain.
Goaltending and penalty killing, though, continue to be the Kings' biggest problems. Mathieu Garon and Jason LaBarbera have combined to give up 15 goals in the last three games, and Garon, LaBarbera and rookie Adam Hauser have yielded 24 goals in Los Angeles' last four road losses.
The Kings have also surrendered 11 power-play goals in their last five games.
"We're definitely going to have to fix that," forward Luc Robitaille said. "Power plays and (penalty kills) are what wins you games in the playoffs. And let's face it, from here to the end of the year it's like the playoffs. So we have no choice to fix that problem.
"This wasn't a good game, but it's good that we get another chance at them Monday night."
