TIME: Tuesday, 7 p.m. EST.
Boston's Andrew Raycroft suffered a hamstring injury in the Bruins' 4-3 overtime loss Wednesday to the Carolina Hurricanes and has missed two games since.
Raycroft, the Calder Trophy winner as the NHL's top rookie in 2003-04, may return later this week.
The Islanders are expected to start backup Garth Snow while Rick DiPietro nurses a bruised knee.
DiPietro was replaced by Snow in the second period of a 6-4 loss Saturday to the Buffalo Sabres after allowing three goals on 12 shots.
Boston earned a point for the fifth straight contest (2-0-3), losing 5-4 in a shootout to visiting New Jersey on Saturday.
Rookie Hannu Toivonen stopped 30 shots in regulation before allowing shootout goals to Viktor Kozlov and Brian Gionta.
Joe Thornton had a goal and three assists for the Bruins, who are 0-2-2 in their last four road games.
Thornton and Sergei Samsonov have been Boston's biggest producers lately. Thornton is second in the NHL with 14 assists and is among the league leaders with 17 points. Samsonov has goals in three straight games and six in his last six contests.
This is expected to be Snow's second start of the season. In his previous start, he surrendered five goals on 46 shots Oct. 15 in a 5-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers.
Snow is 5-7-4 with a 2.41 goals-against average in 18 career games against Boston.
While DiPietro will sit out, the Islanders are hopeful that right wing Mark Parrish will return to the lineup after missing three games with a hip injury. Parrish is fourth on the team with three goals despite playing only seven games.
The Islanders squandered a third-period lead and allowed three straight power-play goals in the final 11 1/2 minutes in Saturday's loss, their third in four games.
New York has allowed eight power-play goals in its last three games.
