The Calgary Wranglers have taken a 2-0 lead in their best-of-five playoff series vs. the Abbotsford Canucks, downing their rivals 4-3 in overtime on Friday night.
Matthew Phillips played the hero, scoring on the power play in the extra frame. It was his first goal of the series.

The Wranglers opened the scoring when Clark Bishop was able to sweep the rebound off of Kevin Rooney's shot past Arturs Silovs at 9:54 of the first period but the Canucks answered back quickly, with Arshdeep Bains scoring twice in the final two minutes of the period.

Abbotsford would take a 3-1 lead into the third period thanks to a goal from Tristen Nielson at 16:22 of the second period but the Wranglers refused to quit. Just 37 seconds into the third period, Ben Jones cut the deficit to one goal and just over five minutes later, Dryden Hunt scored his second goal of the playoffs to tie the game up and send it to overtime.

Phillips' game-winner came at the 7:49 mark in extra time, with Nils Hoglander in the box for tripping. He ripped a shot through a crowd to end Game 2 and secure a 2-0 series lead for his hometown team.
