In 2007-08, the Western Conference featured only three of the top 10 goal-scoring teams in the League (Detroit, Dallas and Chicago). To close the gap, the West pried away some big names from the East via free agency and trade, beginning with the Olli Jokinen deal by Phoenix last month, the top goal scorer to change hands.
A few weeks later, the Marian Hossa bombshell fell in a place nobody expected – Detroit – much to the chagrin of the Stanley Cup runner-up Penguins, who offered a long-term deal to the super scorer, only to see him sign a one-year contract with the franchise Hossa felt affords him the best chance to win in 2008-09. Hey, there's always next year.
Other respectable fantasy scorers who jumped across the Mississippi River include Sean Avery, Dan Boyle, Steve Bernier, Kyle Wellwood and Darcy Tucker. Brian Campbell, who split 2007-08 with Buffalo and San Jose, signed a deal that could see him spend the next eight seasons in the Central time zone with Chicago.

WESTERN CONFERENCE
Anaheim Ducks – Signed center Brendan Morrison away from Vancouver. He is currently rehabbing from ACL surgery that limited him to 39 games last season, but he managed 9-16-25.
