Roman Josi  - Special to NHL.com

Nashville Predators defenseman Roman Josi is one of four hometown players set to appear in the 2016 Honda NHL All-Star Skills Competition on Saturday (7 p.m. ET; NBCSN, CBC, Rogers, TVA) and the 2016 Honda NHL All-Star Game on Sunday (5 p.m. ET; NBCSN, Rogers, TVAS). He is joined by defenseman Shea Weber, forward James Neal and goalie Pekka Rinne. Josi is doing a blog for NHL.com this weekend to detail his experiences.

This is the first installment.

NASHVILLE -- It's been a crazy, but fun day so far. This is my first All-Star Game, so everything is new for me.

I had an event this morning that was a community event where we dedicated the Legacy Family Life Center building that serves the Nashville Inner City Ministry. It was a lot of fun and seeing the kids and how happy they were, it was just great. Daniel Sedin of the Vancouver Canucks and Dustin Byfuglien of the Winnipeg Jets were there also. We caught up a little bit there, but I drove there separately because I'm not staying at the players' hotel. I'm still in my house because the game is here.

The attention from the media is different, that's for sure. In Nashville, we don't have that much media so this is definitely different. The Media Day stuff was a lot of fun. I'm just trying to enjoy it. I don't find it intimidating; I just try to have as much fun with it as I can with it because it doesn't happen that often.

I have to do something at the Friday Night Lights thing that is going to be on TV. There will be some musical acts and they are doing some interviews with some of the players. I like country music, but it's not my favorite kind of music. I like a lot of House music.

It's kind of cool too that this is being noticed back home in Switzerland. They know about the All-Star Game and they like the All-Star Game. Mark Streit and Jonas Hiller have already played in the All-Star Game. I think it's good for Swiss hockey. There are more guys coming from Switzerland to the NHL so something like this can only help because it gives so me more attention to hockey and the people in Switzerland love hockey.

There has been a lot of stuff going on already and so much more to come. We have the skills competition on Saturday and that should be a lot of fun and then the game on Sunday and that will be amazing.

I've already starting thinking a little bit about how it is going to be when all the Predators players step on the ice and how the game in general will be. It'll be a lot of fun if we got James Neal, Shea Weber, Pekka Rinne and myself on the ice at the same time somehow. I think the people would like that here in Nashville.
