Patriots' Brady throws support behind Rask, Bruins

The image of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was featured on the masks of both starting goalies in the 2016 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic, and while Brady showed his support for Boston's Tuukka Rask in a Facebook post, he also signed the mask of Canadiens' goalie Mike Condon, along with a message that said, "Go Pats."

Condon, a lifelong Patriots fan who grew up 30 miles from Gillette Stadium, said Brady's magic may have helped him in the outdoor win after Montreal took a 5-1 decision at Gillette Stadium.

"I'm pretty sure everything he touches turns to gold," said Condon.

Before the game, Brady took to Facebook to show his support of Rask.

Brady posted an image of himself wearing Rask's pads and jersey while running from members of the Miami Dolphins, who the Pats play in their season finale Sunday.

"Thanks Tuukka for featuring me on your mask today! In your honor, I'll be rocking your pads this Sunday in Miami. Happy new year and go Bruins! ‪#‎WinterClassic," Brady said in his post.

His teammate, wide receiver Julian Edelman got into the Winter Classic spirit as well, tweeting an image of Bill Belichick behind the Bruins bench with himself and teammates Rob Gronkowski and Danny Amendola in Bruins uniforms on the bench.

On Thursday, Gronkowski and his teammate Rob Ninkovich had a Twitter exchange regarding the game.

Ninkovich tweeted, "I wish I could throw skates on and go check someone into the glass." Gronkowski responded, "I would rock you so bad on the skates Ninko. You stink bad."

The Patriots have been a visible presence this week in the lead up to the game. On Thursday, Belichick skated on the ice at Gillette Stadium with Bruins coach Claude Julien. Patriots players also visited the Bruins on Thursday at the stadium. Condon, however, did not get to meet Brady.

"I don't think they would let a Montreal player into the Patriots' locker room," he said.
