SHARKS CONTINUE STREAK AS MARLEAU ECLIPSES CENTURY MARK

Patrick Marleau collected a pair of assists to eclipse 1,000 career points (462-539—1,001 in 1,349 GP) and help the San Jose Sharks improve to 5-0-0 on their season-high six-game road trip. Elias says the Sharks have won five consecutive games, all on the road, for the first time since Oct. 21-29, 2011 (5-0-0).

* Marleau, who has spent his entire career with the Sharks, is the first player to earn 1,000 career points with San Jose – and the 83rd to do so in NHL history.

* Elias adds that Marleau, the No. 2 selection in the 1997 NHL Draft, also became the 23rd player to reach the milestone with the team that drafted him. That draft took place across the street from CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh at the former Civic Arena.

* Marleau is the third player from his draft class to earn 1,000 points. The others: Joe Thornton (361-912—1,273 in 1,305 GP), the No. 1 selection (by BOS), and Marian Hossa (489-576—1,065 in 1,190 GP), the No. 12 selection (by OTT).

* Only three draft classes in NHL history have had each of the top two picks go on to collect 1,000 career points:

1971 – No. 1 selection Guy Lafleur (560-793—1,353 in 1,126 GP) and No. 2 selection Marcel Dionne (731-1,040—1,771 in 1,348 GP)

1987 – No. 1 selection Pierre Turgeon (515-812—1,327 in 1,294 GP) and No. 2 selection Brendan Shanahan (656-698—1,354 in 1,524 GP)

1997 – No. 1 selection Joe Thornton (361-912—1,273 in 1,305 GP) and No. 2 selection Patrick Marleau (462-539—1,001 in 1,349 GP).

* Brent Burns (2-0—2) and Paul Martin (1-1—2) also collected multiple points. Martin, who had 17 goals and 109 points with the Penguins from 2010-15 (297 GP), received a standing ovation during a video montage in his return to Pittsburgh.

SEDINS TEAM UP FOR RECORD NIGHT IN VANCOUVER

Henrik Sedin (1-4—5) and Daniel Sedin (3-1—4) combined for four goals and nine points – highlighted by Daniel's 900th career point – to power the Vancouver Canucks past the Chicago Blackhawks in their return to Rogers Arena after a seven-game road trip (1-4-2).

* Daniel Sedin, the second pick by the Canucks in the 1999 NHL Draft, become the second player in franchise history to reach 900 career points (337-566—903). The only other player to earn 900 career points with Vancouver is his brother, Henrik Sedin (217-718—935). The Ornskoldsvik, Sweden, natives are among a group of five Swedish-born players to earn 900 NHL points. The others: Mats Sundin (564-785—1,349), Daniel Alfredsson (44-713—1,157) and Nicklas Lidstrom (264-878—1,142).

* Daniel Sedin had his sixth career hat trick and first since Dec. 6, 2011 vs. COL (3-0—3). He paces the Canucks with 10 goals and 22 points this season, highlighted by a pair of four-point efforts (also Nov. 10 at CBJ: 1-3—4).

* Henrik Sedin equaled and established career highs for assists and points in a game, respectively. He is the first Canucks player to score at least five points in a game since Feb. 6, 2007 at Edmonton, when he and his brother also combined for nine points (Daniel: 3-2—5, Henrik: 0-4—4).

* The Sedin brothers have combined for 36 goals and 105 points in their careers against Chicago (Daniel: 22-31—53 in 53 GP, Henrik: 14-38—52 in 51 GP).

THE STREAK CONTINUES

Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane had an assist to extend his point streak to a career-high 16 games (10-16—26).

* Via Elias, Kane – who leads the League in assists (tied) and points this season (13-19—32 in 21 GP) – became the first Blackhawks player to have a 16-game point streak since Dec. 12, 1987 – Jan. 13, 1988 (Denis Savard: 16 GP).

* Kane is the first player from any team with a point in at least 16 consecutive team games since Penguins forward Pascal Dupuis from March 7 – April 7, 2012 (17 GP).

NASH HAT TRICK RALLIES RANGERS

The Florida Panthers tied the game with two goals in a span of 39 seconds and Henrik Lundqvist (39 saves) denied a penalty shot – all in the final 2:28 of regulation – to force overtime, where Rick Nash completed a hat trick to help the New York Rangers continue their record-setting start to the season.

* At 15-3-2 (32 points), the Rangers are off to their best 20-game start – in terms of wins – in the their 89-year history. Their 32 points also equal a team record at this stage of the season, set in 1971-72 (14-2-4).

* Nash, who entered the game with two goals and 10 assists in 2015-16 (17 GP), had his seventh career hat trick and first since Dec. 23, 2014 against the Washington Capitals (3-0—3). Via Elias, Nash is the first Rangers player to complete a hat trick in overtime since Jan. 23, 2013 against the Boston Bruins (Marian Gaborik: 3-0—3).

* Mats Zuccarello had a goal and three assists for the third time in his past five games (also Nov. 12 against the St. Louis Blues and Nov. 15 against the Toronto Maple Leafs). He leads the Rangers with 10 goals and 21 points this season (20 GP), including six multi-point efforts.

NIEMI, TOP SCORERS (AGAIN) POWER LEAGUE-LEADING STARS

Antti Niemi (22 saves) earned his 33rd career shutout (first this season), and Jamie Benn (2-0—2) and Tyler Seguin (0-2—2) each hand their ninth multi-point performance of the season, to guide the Dallas Stars to their second victory against the Buffalo Sabres in five days (also Nov. 17 at BUF: 3-1 W).

* At 17-4-0 (34 points), the League-leading Stars are off to their best 21-game start to a season – in terms of wins and points – in their 48-year history. They have won five consecutive games overall, matching their longest win streak of the season (also Oct. 13-22).

* Benn had his third multi-goal effort of the season to extend his point streak to five games (4-4—8). He also moved into sole possession of the League lead with 14 goals, one ahead of Patrick Kane and Vladimir Tarasenko.

* Seguin, who also stretched his point streak five games (2-5—7), and John Klingberg (0-1—1) – the League's top defensive scorer – lead all players with 19 assists apiece (tie w/ Kane). Overall, the Stars boast three of the NHL's top five point-producers:

2. Tyler Seguin (DAL): 11-19—30 in 21 GP

3. Jamie Benn (DAL): 14-15—29 in 21 GP

STOP THEM ALL

In addition to the Stars, four other teams – the Ottawa Senators, Minnesota Wild, Tampa Bay Lightning and Bruins – earned shutout victories Saturday. Via Elias, there were five clean sheets on one day for the second time in the last two seasons (also March 21: 5 in 13 GP). Prior to that, the last time there were that many shutouts on one day was March 30, 2013 (also 5).

* Craig Anderson (36 saves) earned his second straight shutout – and 31st of his career – to help the Senators improve to 3-0-2 in their last five games. Elias says Anderson, who made 25 saves Thursday against the Columbus Blue Jackets, is the first Senators goalie to record a shutout in consecutive team home games since Ray Emery (Dec. 27 and Dec. 29, 2006). Anderson also posted consecutive shutouts on April 2 and April 4, 2008 (with the Florida Panthers).

* Devan Dubnyk denied all 23 shots he faced to earn his League-leading third shutout of the season (tied w/ Martin Jones, Jake Allen and Michal Neuvirth). He has eight clean sheets with the Wild (57 GP) and nine shutouts since the start of 2014-15 (76 GP) – one more than he had in his first 173 appearances.

* Ben Bishop made 30 saves to earn his 13th career shutout (first this season) and backstop the Lightning to a 6-0-4 record in their past 10 games against the Anaheim Ducks since Jan. 9, 2009 (ANA: 4-6-0). Bishop, who celebrated his 29th birthday Saturday, is 5-0-1 in his career against Anaheim (1.04 GAA, .965 SV%, 1 SO).

* Tuukka Rask (22 SV) earned his 28th career shutout (second this season) to help the Bruins win the first half of a home-and-home with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Rask is 12-3-1 in 18 career regular-season appearances against Toronto (1.74 GAA, .938 SV%, 2 SO).

THIS AND THAT

* Seven different Capitals found the back of the net, including defensemen Karl Alzner, John Carlson, Dmitry Orlov and Nate Schmidt, to guide them to a 5-2-1 record in their past eight games. The Capitals had four defensemen score a goal for the first time since Dec. 4, 1992 against the Rangers (Kevin Hatcher: 2-2—4; Sylvain Cote: 2-0—2; Paul Cavallini and Al Iafrate: each 1-0—1).

* MUST SEE: Orlov danced the puck into the slot before scoring after all other players lost sight of the puck.

* Teemu Pulkkinen scored his first career overtime goal (third game-winning goal) with 18.8 seconds remaining in the extra frame to help the Detroit Red Wings improve to 3-0-1 in their past four games. Dylan Larkin (1-0—1) stretched his goal streak to four games (4-0—4). Elias says that he became the first teenager to score a goal in four straight games for the Red Wings since 1984-85, when Steve Yzerman had a pair of four-game goal streaks.

* Ryan Suter (1-2—3), the seventh selection by the Nashville Predators in the 2003 NHL Draft, matched a career high for points in a game to help the Wild improve to 8-1-0 at Xcel Energy Center this season. Suter, who had 38 goals and 238 points with the Predators from 2005-12 (542 GP), scored his first goal in 15 appearances against his former team (1-11—12); it also stood as his 10th career decisive tally. He leads all Wild players with three goals and 19 points in 2015-16 (19 GP).

MILESTONES & BENCHMARKS

* Panthers forward Jaromir Jagr scored his 730th career goal to move within one of tying Marcel Dionne (731) for fourth place in NHL history.

* Red Wings forward Pavel Datsyuk scored his first goal of the season (6 GP) to move within one of 300 in his career.

* Arizona Coyotes captain Shane Doan, who played one season in Winnipeg before the franchise relocated to Arizona, scored his first goal in the city since 1995-96. The goal also came exactly 20 years and one week after he scored his first NHL goal at Winnipeg Arena on Nov. 14, 1995 vs. CHI (2-0—2). With the goal, Doan (374) pulled within five goals of tying Dale Hawerchuk (379) for the most goals in franchise history.

* Colorado Avalanche forward Jarome Iginla played in his 1,412th career game to surpass Harry Howell (1,411 GP) into sole possession of 31st on the NHL's all-time games played list.

* Wild captain Mikko Koivu, the sixth selection in the 2001 NHL Draft, became the second player in franchise history to play in 700 career games (Nick Schultz: 743 GP). He also stretched his point streak to six games (1-5—6).

* Blues forward Alexander Steen also played in his 700th NHL game.

LOOSE PUCKS

Capitals forwards Evgeny Kuznetsov (1-2—3), Jason Chimera (0-3—3) and Alex Ovechkin (1-1—2) each collected multiple points . . . Bruins captain Zdeno Chara scored the eventual game-winning goal with 3:43 remaining in regulation, his first such goal since Dec. 17, 2013 against the Calgary Flames . . . Celebrating his 26th birthday, Stars forward Antoine Roussel picked up his third game-winning goal of the season (19 GP), matching his total before 2015-16 (200 GP) . . . Winnipeg Jets forward Chris Thorburn scored his first shorthanded goal since Jan. 30, 2010 at Nashville (with Atlanta) for what stood as his seventh career game-winner . . . The Rangers are 12-3-0 in their past 15 games with the Panthers since March 22, 2011 (FLA: 3-9-3) . . . Rangers forward Chris Kreider was denied by Roberto Luongo on his third career penalty shot – and second in as many games (also Nov. 19 at Tampa Bay – no goal). Via Elias, Kreider became the first player in Rangers history to take a penalty shot in consecutive games and the first to do so in the NHL since Marian Hossa in 2005-06 with the Thrashers (Dec. 15 at NJ and Dec. 17 vs. FLA – both no goal) . . . Steven Stamkos (2-1—3) and Nikita Kucherov (1-2—3) each had three points for the Lightning . . . Blackhawks forward Artem Anisimov scored to push his point streak to five games (3-3—6) . . . Blues forward Vladimir Tarasenko scored with 2:10 remaining in regulation to force overtime. He has a goal in five of his past six games (6-3—9) and shares second in the League with 13 goals this season . . . Blues defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk (0-2—2) stretched his point streak to five games (2-5—7) . . . Avalanche forward Matt Duchene (0-1—1) earned his 200th career assist to extend his point streak to six games (6-6—12) . . . Senators forward Bobby Ryan (0-2—2) extended his career-high point streak to eight games (3-7—10). Teammate Erik Karlsson (0-1—1) has points in six consecutive games (5-5—10) . . . Maple Leafs goaltender James Reimer made 35 saves but had his personal winning streak end at five games . . . Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron (0-1—1) stretched his point streak to seven games (3-5—8) . . .
