OHL Roundup: Mitchell Stephens scores hat trick as Spirit get past Storm

SAGINAW, Mich. - Mitchell Stephens had a hat trick to lead the Saginaw Spirit past the Guelph Storm 8-5 on Saturday night in Ontario Hockey League action.

Connor Brown and Brady Gilmour added a goal and two assists each for the Spirit (1-2-1). Artem Artemov, Devon Paliani and Blake Clarke supplied the rest of the offence.

Nicolas Sicoly struck twice for Guelph (0-3-1), while Tyler Boston, Isaac Ratcliffe and Luke Burghardt also scored.

Evan Cormier got the win in goal after stopping 24 shots. Bradley Van Schubert turned away 32 shots in the loss.

Saginaw went 1 for 3 on the power play while the Storm converted on both of their chances.

ERIE, Pa. — Nick Betz had the lone goal in the shootout as the Otters edged Flint.

Christian Girhiny and Shaun Bily scored in regulation for Erie (4-0-0).

Will Bitten and Zack Pittman had goals for the Firebirds (2-1-1).

PETES 3 ICEDOGS 2

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. — Greg Betzold had the winner late in the third period as the Petes slipped past Niagara.

Hunter Garlent and Eric Cornel opened the scoring for Peterborough (3-2-0) in the second period.

Vince Dunn and Brendan Perlini answered with power-play goals to tie the game in the third for the IceDogs (1-4-0).

COLTS 4 FRONTENACS 2

BARRIE, Ont. — Roy Radke scored a hat trick as the Colts doubled up Kingston.

Kevin Labanc had the other for Barrie (4-1-0), with Julius Nattinen and Cordell James adding two assists each.

Ted Nichol and Spencer Watson chipped in for the Frontenacs (2-1-2).

GREYHOUNDS 4 ATTACK 3 (SO)

OWEN SOUND, Ont. — Zachary Senyshyn struck twice in regulation and had the winner in the shootout as Sault Ste. Marie edged the Attack.

Gabe Guertler also found the back of the net for the Greyhounds (3-0-1).

Jonah Gadjovich, Jaden Lindo and Petrus Palmu scored for Owen Sound (3-0-1).
