Each of the eight matchups for the First Round of the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs were completely settled (opponents and home-ice advantage) on the final day of the regular season.

Two playoff spots (both in the Eastern Conference), the Atlantic Division title and the Western Conference crown also were decided on Saturday:

* The Ottawa Senators clinched their fourth playoff berth in the past six seasons with their win at Philadelphia.

* The Pittsburgh Penguins clinched their ninth straight playoff berth with their win against the Buffalo Sabres.

* The Montreal Canadiens clinched the Atlantic Division – their second division title in the past three seasons – with their shootout win against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

* The Anaheim Ducks clinched their second straight Western Conference title with their regulation win against the Arizona Coyotes.

REGULAR-SEASON TROPHY WINNERS

Two trophy races came down to the final moments of the regular season:

* Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn scored his second career hat trick (Feb. 17 at STL: 3-0—3) and added an assist with 8.5 seconds left in regulation to finish the season with 87 points (35-52—87) – one more than New York Islanders captain John Tavares (38-48—86) – and capture the Art Ross Trophy as the NHL's scoring champion. Benn, a fifth-round selection (No. 129) by Dallas in the 2007 NHL Draft, is the first player in the Stars/North Stars franchise history to win the award. He had eight goals and 16 points in his final seven games of the regular season, including five of his 23 multi-point games. Saturday marked his fourth career game with at least four points – and second this season (Oct. 14 at CBJ: 1-3—4). The 25-year-old left wing finished with career highs in goals, assists and points, highlighted by a Stars-high eight-game point streak from Feb. 10-24 (7-6—13).

* Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin claimed his third consecutive and fifth career Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy as the NHL's goal-scoring leader (2007-08, 2008-09, 2012-13 and 2013-14). He scored 53 goals – his second straight season with at least 50 goals – to become the sixth player in NHL history with at least six 50-goal seasons, joining Mike Bossy (9), Wayne Gretzky (9), Marcel Dionne (6), Guy Lafleur (6) and Mario Lemieux (6). He also finished with a League-leading 25 power play goals, besting the franchise record and career-high he set last season (24).

* The Chicago Blackhawks and Canadiens finished the regular season tied with a League-low 189 goals allowed, and Corey Crawford and Carey Price saw the most action for their respective teams. This marks the first time that goaltenders on two teams claimed the Jennings Trophy since 2002-03, when New Jersey's Martin Brodeur, and Philadelphia's Roman Cechmanek and Robert Esche, captured Jennings honors after the New Jersey Devils and Philadelphia Flyers tied for the League's lowest goals-against total. Crawford captured the Jennings Trophy for the second time in three seasons (also 2012-13), going 32-20-5 with a 2.27 goals-against average, .924 save percentage and two shutouts in 57 appearances. Price, who won his first career Jennings Trophy, set a franchise record for victories by going 44-16-6, surpassing the previous mark of 42 achieved twice by Jacques Plante (1955-56 and 1961-62) and once by Ken Dryden (1975-76). He led the NHL in wins, goals-against average (1.96) and save percentage (.933), and shared second place in shutouts (nine).

STONE, HAMMOND HELP OTTAWA CAP SENSATIONAL FINISH . . .

Mark Stone scored twice and Andrew Hammond made 34 saves to help the Senators clinch a playoff berth and close the regular season with a seven-game point streak (6-0-1).

* The Senators (43-26-13, 99 points) finished in the first wild card into the playoffs from the Eastern Conference to set up an opening-round matchup with the Atlantic Division champion Canadiens (50-22-10, 110 points). On Feb. 10, the Senators were 20-22-9 (49 points) and sat 14 points outside of the playoff picture before reeling off a 23-4-4 record in their final 31 games to earn a spot in the postseason.

* According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Senators are the first team in the NHL's modern era (since 1943-44) to overcome a 14-point deficit in the standings (at any point in the season) and earn a playoff berth.

* The Senators have advanced to the playoffs for the 15th time in franchise history - all in the last 18 seasons since 1996-97. Elias says only the Detroit Red Wings (18) have more postseason berths than Ottawa in that span.

* Hammond, who made his first NHL start on Feb. 18, improved to 20-1-2 with a 1.79 goals-against average and .941 save percentage. That includes a 10-0-2 record on the road (1.06 GAA, .966 SV%, 3 SO). Elias says he is the first goaltender in the NHL's modern era to earn at least one point in each of his first 12 career road starts.

* Stone, a sixth-round selection (No. 178) by Ottawa in the 2010 NHL Draft, earned his second career multi-goal game (also Tuesday against Pittsburgh) to finish with 26 goals and 64 points to win the rookie scoring race. That included 14 goals and 35 points since Feb. 10 (31 GP), highlighted by a rookie franchise record nine-game point streak to end the season (8-7—13).

* Stone's 26 goals are tied (w/ Daniel Alfredsson: 26 in 1995-96) for third-most in franchise history by a rookie behind Alexei Yashin (30 in 1993-94) and teammate Mike Hoffman (27). Hoffman led all rookies in goals and finished fourth in points (27-21—48).

* Stone and Hoffman each ranked in the top five for most points by a Senators rookie: Yashin (79), Stone (64), Alfredsson (61), Alexandre Daigle (51 in 1993-94) and Hoffman (48).

* Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored his fourth career game-winning goal (second this season) – his third in as many games. Clarke MacArthur (3-6—9) and Kyle Turris (2-7—9) closed the season with seven and six-game point streaks, respectively.

* Ottawa finished the season with an 11-0-3 record in its final 14 road games, the longest road point streak in franchise history.

. . . SET UP MEETING WITH ATLANTIC DIVISION CHAMPION CANADIENS

The Canadiens overcame three one-goal deficits, and Alex Galchenyuk and David Desharnais each scored in the shootout to help them finish the regular season with a five-game point streak (3-0-2) and clinch the Atlantic Division, their 18th division title since 1967-68.

* The Canadiens (50-22-10, 110 points) reached the 50-win plateau for the seventh time in franchise history and first time in 26 years (1988-89: 53-18-9, 115 points).

* The Canadiens will face the Senators (43-26-13, 99 points) in the Eastern Conference First Round. Ottawa won the only previous postseason matchup against Montrteal, a five-game series victory in the opening round of the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

* Carey Price made 19 saves and denied both shootout attempts to earn his 44th win of the season, extending his League lead and franchise record. Price also led all goaltenders in goals-against average (1.96), save percentage (.933) and tied for second with nine shutouts.

* Elias says Price's save percentage is tied for the third-highest in a single season since the NHL began tracking the stat in 1976-77 (minimum 40 GP):

* David Desharnais also scored in regulation, while Tomas Plekanec and Jacob De La Rose provided the other Canadiens goals.

FLEURY, SUTTER GUIDE PENGUINS INTO PLAYOFFS . . .

Marc-Andre Fleury stopped all 28 shots he faced and Brandon Sutter scored each Penguins goals when they ended a five-game skid, won their sixth straight game against the Sabres dating to Oct. 5, 2013 and clinched the final playoff berth in the Eastern Conference.

* The Penguins' nine consecutive postseason appearances is the second-longest active streak in the NHL (DET: 24). They will face the Presidents' Trophy winning New York Rangers (53-22-7, 113 points) in a rematch of last year's Eastern Conference Second Round series, which New York won in seven games.

* Fleury is 13-2-0 with a 1.61 goals-against average, .941 save percentage and four shutouts in his past 15 starts against the Sabres. He also earned his League-leading, career-high and franchise-record 10th shutout of the season. He ranks third among active goaltenders with 38 career shutouts.

* Sutter had his eighth career multi-goal game (second this season) to reach 21 goals this season, matching a career high set in 2009-10 (w/ CAR).

. . . RANGERS FINISH RECORD-SETTING SEASON WITH VICTORY

Kevin Hayes and Dominic Moore each had a goal and an assist to help the Rangers close the regular season with six wins in their final seven games and a 3-1-0 record against the Capitals.

* The Rangers (53-22-7, 113 points), who clinched the Presidents' Trophy on Tuesday, established franchise records for wins and points in one season, surpassing previous highs set in 1993-94 (52-24-8, 112 points in 84 GP), the season they last won the Stanley Cup.

* The Rangers finished with a franchise-record 28 road wins (28-11-2), including 10 victories in their final 12 games away from Madison Square Garden (10-1-1).

* Elias says the Rangers tied the NHL record for most road wins by an Eastern Conference team (NJD: 28-10-3 in 1998-99). The only team in NHL history with more road wins in one season was the Red Wings in 2005-06 (31-7-3).

* Henrik Lundqvist made 22 saves to wrap up the regular season with a 30-13-3 record, including 5-1-0 in his final six games (1.99 GAA, .933 SV%). He is the first goaltender in NHL history to reach the 30-win plateau in nine of his first 10 NHL seasons.

* Lundqvist also is one of four goaltenders in NHL history with at least nine 30-win seasons, joining Martin Brodeur (14), Patrick Roy (13) and Ed Belfour (nine).

LIGHTNING, RED WINGS WIN FINALES AHEAD OF FIRST ROUND MATCHUP

The Tampa Bay Lightning (50-24-8, 108 points) and Red Wings (43-25-14, 100 points) each earned victories in their regular season finales to claim the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds in the Atlantic Division, setting up the first-ever postseason matchup between them. Tampa Bay won the season series with a 3-1-0 record (DET: 1-2-1).

* The Lightning surrendered a pair of one-goal leads – and yielded the tying goal with 1:06 left in regulation – but Victor Hedman scored the lone shootout tally to help the club finish the regular season on a three-game winning streak.

* Tampa Bay set franchise records for wins (50) and points (108) in a season. The Lightning also improved to 32-8-1 (65 points) at home this season – tops in the NHL in each category (also franchise records).

* Ben Bishop made 36 saves through overtime – and stopped all three shootout attempts – to finish 4-0-1 in his past five appearances. He also had a franchise record and career-high 40 wins this season, including a 27-6-1 mark at Amalie Arena.

* Jonathan Marchessault (1-1—2), an undrafted native of Cap-Rouge, Que., scored his first career goal, assist and multi-point effort in his fourth NHL game. Nikita Nesterov had the other goal for Tampa Bay.

* Petr Mrazek denied all 35 shots he faced for his fifth career shutout to lead the Red Wings past the Carolina Hurricanes for the second time this week (3-2 on Tuesday), completing a sweep of their three-game season series.

* Detroit hit the century mark in points for the 19th time in franchise history, a total that includes 12 consecutive 100-point seasons from 1999-00 to 2011-12.

* Mrazek finished his rookie season with a 16-9-2 record, 2.38 goals-against average and .918 save percentage. His three shutouts tied for second among rookie goalies.

* Landon Ferraro, the son of retired NHL player Ray Ferraro and Detroit's second-round pick (No. 32) in the 2009 NHL Draft, opened the scoring with his first career NHL point (7 GP). Joakim Andersson added the other Red Wings goal into an empty net.

DUCKS CLAIM SECOND STRAIGHT WESTERN CONFERENCE TITLE . . .

Ryan Getzlaf and Jakob Silfverberg each scored to help the Anaheim Ducks halt a two-game slide, extend their point streak against the Coyotes to 10 games dating to Oct. 18, 2013 (8-0-2) and clinch their second Western Conference title (also 2013-14).

* The Ducks (51-24-7, 109 points) edged the St. Louis Blues (51-24-7, 109 points) for the top spot in the conference by virtue of the ROW tiebreaker (ANA: 43, STL: 42). Anaheim's 51 wins are the second-highest total in franchise history (53 in 2013-14).

* The Ducks will face the Winnipeg Jets (43-26-13, 99 points) – the No. 2 wild card – in the first round for their first ever postseason matchup.

* The Ducks finished with a 25-12-4 (54 points) record as visitors, marking the most wins and points in one season for the franchise.

* Anaheim also posted the top intraconference record in the NHL, finishing with a 34-10-5 (.890%) against Western Conference opponents. That includes an 18-6-5 record against the Pacific Division.

* Frederik Andersen made 23 saves to finish 35-12-5 (54 GP). He is the second goaltender in franchise history to win 35 games in a season: Jean-Sebastien Giguere in 2006-07 (36-10-8, 56 GP) and 2007-08 (35-17-6, 58 GP).

* Getzlaf (1-1—2) led the Ducks with 70 points this season, his fifth season with at least 70 points.

. . . JETS ROLL INTO PLAYOFFS ON FIVE-GAME POINT STREAK

The Jets surrendered the opening goal 33 seconds into the game, but Drew Stafford scored the tying goal 15 second later, and Winnipeg scored five unanswered goals to get past the Calgary Flames and enter the postseason with a five-game point streak (4-0-1).

* The Jets (43-26-13, 99 points) matched and set franchise records for wins and points in a season, respectively, set in 2006-07 (43-28-11, 97 points) when the franchise was in Atlanta.

* Michael Hutchinson made 24 saves to pick up his first victory since March 7 (20 SV at NSH) and finish his first full NHL season (3 GP in 2013-14) at 21-10-5 with a 2.39 goals-against average and .914 save percentage. His 21 wins establish a franchise record for wins by a rookie goaltender; only St. Louis' Jake Allen (22) had more wins among rookies this season.

* Stafford had nine goals and 19 points in 26 games with the Jets since Feb. 12 after scoring nine goals and 24 points in his first 50 games of 2014-15 with the Sabres.

* Michael Frolik, Lee Stempniak (1-1—2), Adam Lowry and Matt Halischuk all scored in the third period. Adam Pardy (0-1—1) and Toby Enstrom both finished with a plus-5 rating, matching the highest single-game total this season.

* The Jets had their franchise-record shutout streak snapped at 187:38, 35:43 better than the previous mark of 151:55 set over a four-game span from Dec. 22-28, 2005.

BLUES FINISH STRONG AGAINST FIRST ROUND OPPONENT

Jori Lehtera scored twice, including the game-winning goal late in the second period, to power the Blues to their fifth win in their past six games and finish 2-2-0 (MIN: 2-1-1) in their season series with the Minnesota Wild, their opponent in the opening round of the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

* The Blues (51-24-7, 109 points) tied the Ducks (51-24-7, 109 points) for the most points in the Western Conference, but lost out on the franchise's second conference title by virtue of the ROW tiebreaker (ANA: 43, STL: 42). Their 51 wins are tied for second-most in franchise history behind the 52 victories they posted last season.

* The Central Division champion Blues will face off against the Wild (26-28-8, 100 points) in the first round, with the Blues holding home-ice advantage. This marks the first-ever postseason matchup between the Central Division rivals.

* Brian Elliott made 23 saves to finish 2014-15 with a 26-14-3 record, 2.26 goals-against average and .917 save percentage in 46 appearances. He also improved to 7-2-0 in 11 career outings against the Wild.

* Lehtera had his second career multi-goal game (Nov. 11 vs. BUF: 3-0—3) to finish his first NHL season with 14 goals and 44 points. Vladimir Tarasenko (1-1—2) led the Blues 73 points, the most by a Blues player since 2002-03 (Pavol Demitra: 36-57—93).

* Alexander Steen had two assists in his return from a six-game absence to finish with a Blues-leading and career-high 40 assists. Dmitrij Jaskin provided the other Blues goal.

* The Blues ended a two-game slide against the Wild to end their NHL-record tying 12-game road winning streak.

CANUCKS WRAP UP HOME-ICE ADVANTAGE FOR FIRST ROUND

Alexander Edler had a goal and two assists, including the overtime winner at 2:29 of the extra frame, to help the Vancouver Canucks reach the 100-point mark for the ninth time in franchise history and first time since 2011-12 (111 points).

* The Canucks (48-29-5, 101 points) wrapped up the No. 2 seed in the Pacific Division and home-ice advantage for their first round series against the Flames (45-30-7, 99 points) after Calgary lost their matinee in Winnipeg.

* Edler scored his first career overtime goal and second game-winning goal of the season (74 GP), matching his total from his first 494 NHL games. He also had his second straight three-point effort (Thursday vs. ARI: 0-3—3).

* Daniel Sedin (1-1—2) and Henrik Sedin (0-2—2) each had two points to finished first and second in Canucks scoring with 20-56—76 and 18-55—73, respectively.

* Radim Vrbata had two assists to set a new career high for points in a season with 31-32—63, one more than his previous best established in 2011-12 (35-37—62 w/ PHX). Sven Baertschi scored his first two goals in a Canucks uniform (3 GP).

* Ryan Miller made 23 saves in his first action since Feb. 22, finishing his first season in Vancouver 29-15-1 with a 2.53 goals-against average, .911 save percentage and six shutouts (tied for career high).

DIVISION RIVALS MEET IN OTHER SERIES

The final first round matchups will pit division rivals against each other in both conferences:

* The Capitals (45-26-11, 101 points) and Islanders (47-28-7, 101 points) will play one another in the postseason for the seventh time, with the Capitals owning home-ice advantage by virtue of the season series tiebreaker. They last faced off in the playoffs in 1993, a six-game opening-round series won by the Islanders.

* The Nashville Predators (47-25-10, 104 points) and Blackhawks (48-28-6, 102 points) will play one another in the postseason for the second time, with Nashville holding home-ice advantage. Their only other matchup was a six-game opening-round series won by Chicago en route to a Stanley Cup win in 2010.

JAGR CONTINUES TO RE-WRITE RECORD BOOKS

Jaromir Jagr had his second straight multi-point game – following two assists Thursday against the Boston Bruins when he reached 1,800 career points – to help the Florida Panthers close the season with back-to-back wins on home ice.

* Jagr earned his 1,080th career assist to surpass Adam Oates into sixth place in NHL history. He also scored his 204th career power play goal, tying Wayne Gretzky for 14th in NHL history.

* Jagr six goals and 18 points in 20 games with the Panthers, including seven multi-point performances (11-18—29 in 57 GP w/ NJD).

Capitals forward Nicklas Backstrom had an assists Saturday to finish atop the NHL with 60, the second consecutive season he's 60 assists (and fourth time in his career) . . . Jarome Iginla scored twice, including the game-winning goal at 19:26 of the third period, to lift the Colorado Avalanche to their third straight win to end the season. Iginla (37 years, 284 days) had his fourth multi-goal effort of 2014-15 to finish his first season in Colorado as the oldest player in franchise history to lead the team in goals . . . Iginla finished one goal shy of his 13th career 30-goal season . . . Predators forward Filip Forsberg scored in the Predators regular-season finale to lead them in goals (26) and points (63). He also finished third among NHL rookies in overall points . . . The Los Angeles Kings defeated the San Jose Sharks to tie the franchise record for most points earned on home ice in one season (57; also 1990-91) . . .
