Rene Bourque scores overtime winner as Blue Jackets edge Flames 3-2

CALGARY - Rene Bourque scored his second of the game 4:01 into overtime to give the Columbus Blue Jackets a 3-2 win over the Calgary Flames on Saturday.

With prolonged pressure in the Flames end, Kevin Connauton's shot was stopped but Bourque slipped the rebound past Karri Ramo's outstretched pad.

Artem Anisimov also scored for Columbus (33-35-4), which has won six straight games including its first ever sweep of Western Canada.

Sean Monahan and Jiri Hudler scored for Calgary (39-27-6). The Flames remain in third place in the Pacific Division, two points back of Vancouver and two points up on Los Angeles. The Canucks and Kings hold a game in hand.

Columbus trailed 2-1 entering the third period but tied the game at 4:21 on a mistake by Flames defenceman Kris Russell.

Retreating with the puck into his own end to buy time for a line change, Russell attempted to backhand the puck behind his net to his defensive partner Dennis Wideman in the other corner. Instead the puck caromed off the side of the Flames net where it was corralled by Anisimov and fired behind Ramo.

Calgary had three power plays over the final 14 minutes of the third period but they could not beat Sergei Bobrovky, who turned aside all 14 shots he faced in the final 20 minutes.

Bobrovsky finished with 38 stops to improve to 22-17-2.

Ramo had 23 saves to fall to 14-8-2.

The Flames took a 2-1 lead 2:44 into the second period on a miscue by Bobrovsky, who mishandled the puck at the side of the net, enabling Monahan to steal the puck and set up Hudler.

Columbus entered the game with a penalty kill that was on the skids, having given up 15 power-play goals during the previous 10 games.

Calgary needed only 13 seconds to convert its first power play of the night, taking a 1-0 lead at 4:18 when Monahan buried Hudler's set-up.

The Blue Jackets tied the game at 11:13 when Bourque raced to the net and redirected a perfect feed from Ryan Johansen.

Notes: Columbus activated LW Jeremy Morin (upper body) and C Boone Jenner (back) from injured reserve. They missed 25 and 40 games respectively. Out of the line-up was C Alexander Wennberg (hand)... Flames finish the season with a 14-14-4 record against the Eastern Conference... Calgary is 6-3-2 since losing captain Mark Giordano to a season-ending torn biceps tendon.
