QMJHL Roundup: Bouchard, Foreurs beat Olympiques to extend win streak

GATINEAU, Que. - Keven Bouchard made 34 saves as the Val-d'Or Foreurs extended their win streak to nine games with a 4-2 victory over the Gatineau Olympiques Wednesday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Jan Mandat, Nicolas Aube-Kubel, Samuel Hould and Simon Tremblay supplied the scoring for the Foreurs (31-22-8), who fell behind in the first period 2-0 before scoring four unanswered goals.

Yan Pavel Laplante and Louick Marcotte scored for the Olympiques (26-31-5), who suffered their first regulation-time loss in nine games.

Gatineau's Francois Brassard turned aside 42-of-45 shots in a losing cause.

Val-d'Or went 0 for 2 on the power play while the Olympiques failed to convert their only chance with the man advantage.

ISLANDERS 3 SCREAMING EAGLES 2

SYDNEY, N.S. — Filip Chlapik scored the eventual winner 21 seconds into the third period as Charlottetown edge Cape Breton to halt a four-game slide.

Daniel Sprong and Ross Johnston also scored for the Islanders (29-27-5) while Mason McDonald made 33 saves.

Clark Bishop and Pierre-Luc Dubois found the back of the net for the Screaming Eagles (27-28-6). Miguel Sullivan stopped 28-of-31 shots in defeat.

MOOSEHEADS 7 TITAN 4

HALIFAX — Nikolaj Ehlers had a goal and four assists and Danny Moynihan struck twice as the Mooseheads handed Acadie-Bathurst its fifth loss in a row.

Timo Meier scored once and set up two more for Halifax (30-25-6) as Ryan Falkenham, Andrew Schewfelt and Samuel Hunter added the others. Kevin Resop made 21 saves for the win.

Andrew Ryan led the Titan (15-40-6) with a goal and three assists and Mark Trickett, Raphael Corriveau and Nathan Medeiros each scored once. Reilly Pickard stopped 28 shots in defeat.

Acadie-Bathurst's Elijah Francis received a major and game misconduct for a check from behind on Halifax's Brett Crossley early in the second period. Mooseheads winger Kelly Bent received a game misconduct on the same play for being the aggressor.

OCEANIC 6 PHOENIX 0

RIMOUSKI, Que. — Michael Joly had two goals and an assist and Louis-Phillip Guindon made 20 saves as the Oceanic blanked Shebrooke for their fourth-straight victory.

Christopher Clapperton scored once and set up two others for Rimouski (41-15-4) while Samuel Laberge, Simon Bourque and Anthony DeLuca each scored once.

Evan Fitzpatrick kicked out 33-of-39 shots for the Phoenix (32-25-5), who are on a four-game skid.
